Full operations are not yet online.

The migration to the new server is more than a migration. The Pinguinite software is about 15 years old. Time does indeed fly. Upon installing it on to the latest linux distributions of Debian server software, some modular software packages that were relied upon 15 years ago are no longer supported so to get 4um online again, I've needed to upgrade it to utilize the more recent replacements of those independent modules.

All in all, that it lasted 15 years it speaks well of linux in general!

More upgrades are required to bring 4um completely back online. I suspect comments are not yet functional.

As for what happened with the former site, I don't know. While I began the migration a week or more ago, I was taking my time with it and had only changed the DNS servers for 4um while keeping the previous server IP. It went down and it seemed the outage was prolonged, at least to me, so I decided to just proceed with the migration. I did have sufficient rights to obtain the database so that is now here. I am not clear on the cause of the extended recent outage. It was not due to anything related to the pending transfer, and nothing related to anything I have done. But I guess it doesn't matter now.

Everything seems to be zipping along here.

Thanks much for all your work!

When I worked at Illinois state highways (DOT) me and the mechanic got drunk after work. We talked and decided we would get the Lead, Lead since he was always the first one there.

We went to the store and bought a tube of Crazy Glue. We glued the lock on the front gate. He had to jump the fence to get a bolt cutter to cut the chain.

I was in the yard early and the Engineer called me into his office. I opened the door and spotted the lock and chain on his desk. I said, "What'ca got there? Is that a new paper weight?"

He said, "What do you know about this?"

I said, "Nuthin" ROTFLMAO!

Fifteen years of functionality is 300% better than anything Bill Gates put out there.

Props to you and Linux.

Pinguinite, thanks so much for sticking with it (and us) all these years. It's a very special site and we'd all miss it!

Is that Stargate time or what? It's still 2019-07-03 here.

Nope. That's a futuristic Stargate timestamp or something similar. It wasn't the 4th of July yet anywhere in America when I sent that post northward to Canada. Even though I didn't tell it to travel faster than the speed of light, it looks like it did so anyway. Your post is evidence that the problem isn't as trivial as it might seem, since it could cause miscommunication complications. Am hoping Pinguinite can simply make a default timezone adjustment to correct the inaccurate logging issues without having to consult NASA about Quantum math equations for variant space-time dimensions and such.

OK I see your point. ;)

It was hard to find an episode they did not want $1.99 for. ;)
