""Starting in 1935, moreover, the Communist party vigorously pursued an issue‐oriented united front policy—a tactic agreed upon by the Seventh Congress of the Comintern. In practice, this policy saw Mr. Browder attempting conciliation with the Socialist party, whose leader, Norman Thomas, he had ringingly denounced in 1932 as “a social fascist.” (Although the two men exchanged many caus tic words, Mr. Browder, in his obituary interview, referred to the late Mr. Thomas as “my dear friend.”)
Norman Thomas was the Bernie Sanders of that era.
All of them hated America and were hell bent on bringing us down.
