From: Save Yourself Subject: Your private data - cashel1964

Hi, I know one of your passwords is: cashel1964 - but not only that!

Your computer was infected with my private malware, because your browser wasn't updated / patched, in such case it's enough to just visit some website where my iframe is placed to get automatically infected, if you want to find out more - Google: "Drive-by exploit".

My malware gave me full access to all your accounts (see password above), full control over your computer and it also was possible to spy on you over your webcam!

I COLLECTED ALL YOUR PRIVATE DATA and I RECORDED YOU through your webcam, I must say - the result is some good material! :)

After that I removed my malware to not leave any traces and this email was sent from some hacked server.

I can publish the videos of you and all your private data on the whole web, social networks, over email of all your contacts.

But you can stop me and only I can help you out in this situation.

The only way to stop me, is to pay exactly 900$ in bitcoin (BTC).

It's a very good offer, compared to all that HORRIBLE SHIT that will happen if you don't pay!

You can easily buy bitcoin here: www.paxful.com , www.coinbase.com , or check for bitcoin ATM near you, or Google for other exchanger. You can send the bitcoin directly to my wallet, or create your own wallet first here: www.login.blockchain.com/e n/#/signup/ , then receive and send to mine.

My bitcoin wallet is: 1EwCEJr5JwpafZx11dcXDtX5QSPJvzth17

Copy and paste my wallet, it's (cAsE-sEnSEtiVE)

I give you 3 days time to pay.

As I got access to this email account, I will know if this email has already been read. If you get this email multiple times, it's to make sure that you read it, my mailer script is configured like this and after payment you can ignore it. After receiving the payment, I remove all your data and you can life your live in peace like before.

Next time update your browser before browsing the web!

Poster Comment:

Received the above -- has anybody else? Lots of webpages says it's fake, which would be easy to believe since my webcam has been covered since I bought the computer, that password way way down my collection of 'em and I haven't used it in 12 years. But other pages give removal instructions? Is this just trying to make a sale on people's groundless fears?

http://howtoremove.guide/remove-drive-by-exploit-email/

Opinions please. I just bought some serious AVG coverage (which I prolly don't need, but it's cheap). Gets great reviews, hope it's the real stuff. AVG Password Protection took about 15 min. to download so mebbe it's heavy duty.

What OS, browser, search engine, and anti-virus software do y'all use? Thanks.

Fake as a three dollar bill. The story has also been making rounds on tech channels on youtube. The passwords are from older lists so if you have updated your password in the last 5 years or so, youre probably safe and if you havent the exploit and all that shitnis rubbish. If the dipshits could manage that they could use ransom ware. Much more effective.

Win7, Chrome, AVG.

I deleted Spybot Search & Destroy and the once mighty Malwarebytes as they hadn't found anything in years. Apparently the once mighty Superantispyware too.

Thanks, titorite. Another reason I didn't believe it is that I've never heard of somebody having their list of contacts or most embarrassing personal moments posted online.

ransom ware

I had some jerk put that crap on my machine a couple years or so back. He wanted $650 to remove it. I had a local tech remove it completely for $40. He told me, "Even if you paid them there is no way to know if they would remove it completely."

The jerk called me a couple of weeks later and said, "I have your password." I told him, "YOU put that crap on my machine. Don't EVER call me again." He has not.

Now my main problem is hijackers on my email. I have lost two Gmail accounts to the bastards. ;)

So how did he get your phone number?

So how did he get your phone number?

My phone number is on LG Treasure and operates on Straight Talk.

The jerk that hijacked my Gmail has iPhone 6. Google needs to investigate and find a way to get that creep.

The guy that put that ransomware on my machine called the home number. He had a way into my machine using the wireless connection. When I realize what he was doing I shut it down. But it was too late.

Apparently he needed an open phone line to operate to get into my computer.

Now the answering service screens all of my calls. Some of them say "Unknown caller" or "invalid number" so no way to know who is on other end. ;)

I use the free version protection from sophos.com good luck in the future.

In over seven years, so far so good, knock on wood.

That comes to mind, let's face it. AVG was warning me over and over that anybody could see my puter and what I was doing, but it's never happened in the 26 years I've been online. I used to get in serious trouble by inadvertently clicking booby-trapt pages but that feels like 10 years ago.

AVG also reports saving me from attacks, about one a month and they look like serious stuff -- is there any chance AVG is simply all BS, world?

Sounds like you use dialup?

We must always be ready to pull the internet cable or phone line out out FAST, or close a browser window, or do a hard shutdown, or pull the plug in that order of seriousness.

Oh yeah -- the email thing happened just a day or two after I got a popup message on the phone from Verizon (my carrier) offering free super-duper- security. It seems entirely legit and I opted into it -- but an odd coincidence, no? Have never received a msg like that before.

I can tell you for sure -- just after the main person on our Verizon triple account upgraded to a better fone the battery in mine lost most of its ability to keep a charge. And I strongly DON'T think that was coincidence -- am convinced all the communications behemoths are crooks.

Nope. I have AT&T wireless.

I figured I might have cut him short but no such luck. ;)

I got the same email. I was given 48 hours to pay or my browser history and webcam, etc would be posted. I was like’ “terrific! I will finally be famous!” Sadly, the threat was empty.

I had some chick get me on the webcam. She tricked me into exposing myself and then threatened to post a You Tube that I was masturbating in front of a 14 year old. That was BS too. :-/
