TENSIONS between Iran and the UK and the west have reached new highs following the seizure of the British-flagged oil tanker Stena Impero, bringing the countries one step closer to a conflict. As the tensions continue and Tehran keeps refusing to release the crews of the Stena Impero, analysts are looking at the military strength of the UK and Iran. Global Fire Power (GFP) reviewed both Tehran and London’s military strength this year and ranked them eighth and 14th respectively out of the 137 nations analysed so far. The website assesses the military strength of countries using a thorough in-house generated formula, called PowerIndex score (PwrIndx). A comparison of the UK and Iran’s military strength shows Britain falling behind when it comes to manpower, land and naval strength and petroleum resources. Iran boasts a larger population, with a total of people living in the country amounting to more than 83 million against the UK’s 65,105,000. Of these, Iran has almost 40 million people fit for service, 48 percent of the entire population. Britain has, on the other hand, 36.8 percent of its residents deemed ready to enter a conflict, a total of almost 24 million people. And the countries’ total military personnel is respectively 873,000 for Iran and 233,000 for the UK. It never occurred to me to compare populations. Quite notable, But the UK would/could never invade Iran in any event. Probably only the US and China could do that, and even Russia would probably barely be able to do so, if they were hostile. The most the west could do, not counting nuclear bombings, is missile and bomb Iran which would make life quite miserable for them but not invade. Iran would respond, unwillingly, with an invasion of many millions of refugees into Iraq Syria and Europe. But I see missiles of all types being the future of war. Anti-aircraft & anti- ship particularly, which is why Putin and, I think, Iran are investing heavily in them. The better and cheaper they can make them, the safer their country is from US threats. If they can crank out myriads of cheap and effective missiles, then it will largely mitigate even bombing Iran facilities, and place US assets like task forces and aircraft at risk.
Iran's plan to respond to any attack is Armageddon. They launch missiles and take out all US bases from Afghanistan to Iraq to Syria to the Persian Gulf and Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
