Yes, you knew all the above -- but not (I suspect) the extent of it, and it's only going to get exponentially worse. They're doing with digits what they used to do with guns and torture, but there's no question the violence is still going strong too.
Any lessening of the tyranny we've fondly imagined over there is only a matter of degree in reality. Corruption reigns, honesty is persecuted. This show will make you SICK.
What galls is how much it's like here now. It's got (so it appears) a big middle class and an upper one, girls sit in cafés and swap stuff on their fones -- everything looks outwardly hunky dory but really isn't.
