Greenland is a magical place where somehow snow melts even though there are permanent icebergs floating around it.

The Danish have refused to acquiesce to our modest proposal.

Let’s see how that works out for them.

RT:

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has labeled the idea of selling Greenland to the US as “absurd,” after President Donald Trump said Washington may look into purchasing the icy island.

The suggestion of selling off Greenland, a Danish dependency, will not on the table any time soon, Frederiksen told newspaper Sermitsiaq during a visit to the island on Sunday.

“Greenland is not for sale. Greenland is not Danish. Greenland belongs to Greenland. I strongly hope that this is not meant seriously.”

Greenland made headlines last week after reports that Trump had “on multiple occasions” brought up the idea of purchasing the island from Denmark. The president later confirmed that he would be “interested” to discuss this issue. “Strategically for the United States, it would be nice,” he said.

I think we need to keep all options on the table.

And by that I mean military intervention in order to liberate the people of Greenland from the oppression of Denmark.

A war of conquest against Greenland would be much better than a war of Jewish aggression against Venezuela or Iran, because it would actually be funny.

We could really heck up their darn faces.

And this would serve as a steam valve for the boomer desire to be at constant war as well as an outlet for Trump’s cabinet of neoconservative shills who are compulsively obsessed with death and destruction.

It can be done. They can be liberated. We can take this pointless territory and turn it into a beautiful monument to American ingenuity, just as we’ve done with the Puerto Rican colony.

We will bring democracy to Greenland once and for all, and if anyone tries to stand in our way, it’s over for them.

It sounds like Greenland can't be purchased from Denmark because it's not Danish and belongs to the people of Greenland. So, the people of Greenland are the ones to ask by vote if they'd be interested in becoming a part of the United States territories through a land purchase agreement, rather than Denmark being the negotiating nation of decision and treasury-controllership from the purchase agreement.

That does sound tyrannical and demeaning of Greenland's sovereignty status -- forgetful or disingenuous, too, since he also said authoritatively that "Greenland is not Danish. Greenland belongs to Greenland."; like he would not permit Greenlanders any chance to speak by voting on the issue, much less have Denmark ask them by vote if they'd like to be a U.S. Independancy. While he's the Prime Minister of Denmark, perhaps we should send him reminder notes occasionally with words to the effect that "All of our airbase in Greenland by officialized agreements are belong to US!" -- not to him.

Who signed those airbase agreements with the US--Denmark or Greenland?

Tucker Carlson is back and reported this update on the Greenland issue:

President Trump tweets image of new Trump Tower on the shores of Greenland | Fox News Video, 26 seconds

Respectfully wrote: "I promise not to do this to Greenland!" above the pic - which looks like a massive gold bar that landed there vertically on beachfront property, but it's not really a gold bar. It just looks like one. I don't know if we even still have any of those here but we can probably find or mint some silver bars, if Greenland would like to consider becoming a non-dependancy of Denmark and a U.S. Independancy instead. : ]

Unlikely if they look at the state of other US dependencies like Puerto Rico, the US Virgins or what happened to the Philippines once we got hold of them.

I don't know whether they are happy under the Danes or not. I was there a few years back but the subject never came up. I also visited the Faroes, also a Danish dependency, and got the impression that they would prefer independence.

You've been to Greenland and the Faeroes? What were they like?

I don't see why anybody wouldn't want DC to turn Greenland into one huge military installation. Hey, there's TERR'ISTS out there!
