Resistance See other Resistance Articles Title: OxyContin heiress offered ex-opioid addict Courtney Love $100K to attend fashion show Scandal-hit OxyContin heiress Joss Sackler tried to pay recovering opioid addict Courtney Love more than $100,000 to attend her controversial Fashion Week show — but the widow of Kurt Cobain shot back, “The Sackler family has no shame — I won’t sell out to them.” At 1 p.m. Monday, Sackler is showing her line, LBV, at the Bowery Hotel Terrace. She is married to David Sackler, whose family owns Purdue Pharma, which makes OxyContin and is accused of starting and reaping billions from the opioid epidemic, linked to more than 400,000 deaths in the US. According to emails from Sackler’s team to Love, exclusively seen by Page Six, “Elizabeth Kennedy (LBV creative director) and Joss are huge fans of Courtney … She best embodies the women they are dressing … strong and undeterred.” The emails add, “The brand has no relation to Purdue … other than Joss is married to the family.” David was on the board of Purdue, manages some of the family wealth, and is the de-facto Purdue spokesperson as they face lawsuits for billions of dollars. Purdue may file for bankruptcy protection to avoid paying plaintiffs. Love — who has been open about her addictions to drugs including OxyContin and Benzos (tranquilizers) and just celebrated a year sober — exclusively told Page Six, “I am one of the most famous reformed junkies on the planet — my husband died on heroin — What is it about me that says to Joss Sackler, ’I will sell out to you?’ Well I won’t.” She said Sackler’s team had offered her more than $100,000 to attend the show, hair and makeup, car service as well as a custom-made “Phoenix” dress from LDV embroidered with 24-carat gold thread. They claimed other stars expected at the show include Suki Waterhouse and Julia Restoin-Roitfeld. see also Sacklers fleeing NYC following family's OxyContin scandal Rock and fashion icon Love added, “I never would take their money — Joss is delusional, talking about her fashion line and private members club, their ‘philanthropical arm.’ What about instead giving money to rehab facilities, paying for Narcan (a medication that counters opioid overdoses) or creating a non-addictive painkiller?” Love added, “This request from Joss Sackler is shameless and offensive after everything I, many of my friends, and millions of other addicts have been through with OxyContin. I’m sober, but I will always be an opioid addict, it doesn’t vanish. I will always be that, I am just in recovery. “And, equally. a fashion line with 24 carat gold thread won’t ever cover up or wash away the stains on Joss Sackler and her family.” LDV and Joss Sackler spokesperson Elizabeth Tuke said, “This is not accurate.
