We must recall how the Bolsheviks managed to get to Moscow. They were transported by sealed train from Switzerland to Moscow.
First there was a revolution between the Reds and Whites. The Whites were the loyalists. The Reds won and the rest is history.
The Communists turned all of the Eastern Orthodox churches into government buildings. This is what the Kremlin was. ;)
