In 1962 the minimum wage was $1.25 an hour payable in 90% silver quarters. $14.62 is what the cheapest price for one dollar of face value coins. That is $18.72 per hour in today's money.

That's still historically cheap; I paid near $30 several years back when the PM craze was in full effect.

Doesn't matter, if you can afford to pick up some metals, just do it when you can. The stuff doesn't "go bad."
