High school football coach under scrutiny after clothes-lining student

Curt Hogg, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel 3 days ago

The mother of a student who was tackled by a football coach while running onto the field during a game earlier this month at Wilmot (Wisconsin) High School wants to see the coach fired, according to a report.

The Kenosha News is reporting that Rebecca Langel would like the school to take action against the assistant coach who tackled her son after he and another student ran onto the field while the high school football game was ongoing.

Video of the incident, which was captured by a fan in attendance and shared on social media sites shows the coach bringing down one student around his neck. The coach then dragged the student by his shirt for a few yards before escorting him over the bench area.

"This is a personnel issue; therefore, we cannot comment," district administrator Dan Kopp said. "I would like you to consider the following: What would your questions have been if the person running towards the backs of our players during a live play had been carrying a weapon?"

According to the Kenosha News report, the student, who was identified as Mason Langel, received a five-day suspension from school that he served last week and a $200 disorderly conduct ticket.

The report identifies the coach as Ken Mulhollon, a former police chief in Lake Geneva and current district employee.

$200 fine for DC? It seems kind of steep. But then again it is not Chicago.

We were working a grunge concert in Chicago. This is the kind of show where the guys wear black lipstick.

They did not sell the seats behind the stage. When the band was going off stage, some guy jumped the rail in the corner and starts running along the first row of the dead seats. I paralleled him down below.

He tried to jump thru the rail. I came around the corner and clothes-lined him. The glasses he was wearing went to the tip of his nose and his cap went over his eyes.

My boss was standing on the opposite corner of the stage. He saw everything. He said, "Tex! That was an all pro move."

He told the whole crew after the show, "Tex clothes-lined a guy that tried to jump on top of the band."

We had a guy up by a curtain above the ramp which was back stage entry. He came down and grabbed that guy up and took him out. If they went thru the curtained area he likely told him, "This is as close as you are going to get to back stage." LOL

Clearly a case of profiling, plenty of crazy non professional coaches clothesline bystanders every day. It's part of their culture, why are you acting all superior, Herbert?

Woody Hayes lives.

LOL, another Ross Perot pie-in-the-sky environmental determinist.

Just kidding, Woody is alright with me.

Thanks, I really enjoyed and liked that clip. True words and philosophy.

Whoever heard of a coach giving vocabulary lessons?

apathy reminds me of this exchange

Coach, "Son, are you ignorant or just apathetic?"

Player, "I don't know and I don't care."
