HAH! I always knew those things were a giant fraud. They're evil in EVERY way. Article doesn't even mention the motors:

Any marginal reduction in emissions comes at the expense of protected bird species, including bald and golden eagles.

Unfortunately, given federal regulations in the U.S. that restrict rare earth mineral development and China’s poor record of environmental stewardship, the process of extracting these minerals imposes wretched environmental and public health impacts on local communities. It’s a story Big Wind doesn’t want you to hear."

I always knew those things were a giant fraud. They're evil in EVERY way.

Maybe, maybe not, although one would certainly think that the EROI (Energy Returned On energy Invested) is negative. The amount of materials, labor, transportation, etc. on those monsters is vast. Getting near one of those things is a strange experience because they're so massive.

Article doesn't even mention the motors:

The generators should be 100% recyclable/reusable, including the rare earths.
