I thought the gas lines were 73-74 when OPEC embargoed. From the Carter years, yes high inflation, though I'm not sure how much was rightly blamed on him. Normally inflation is handled by the fed reserve, not by the president. In fact, it's Congress that controls spending authorization.

That could have been, but I can recall in late 70s a rise in gas prices too. It was hard to make it and I was doing newspaper relays with my old Blazer. I asked for a little more pay because of fuel price increases. They gave it to me. ;)

That could be. I think that may have been when carpooling started to make the scene. My dad carpooled with another guy who lived nearby. Of course that was before outsourcing started and telecommuting was possible.
