The drawback of sending stuff to someone else's platform. Updated this morning, but if there have been any major events or revelations since late yesterday I've not been able to accommodate those. Protests in Chile October 2019: Endd of the Neoliberal âExperimentâ? Protests in Chile October 2019: End of the Neoliberal âExperimenttâ? Since October 18 Chile has seen the most serious signs of civil unrest since the end of the Pinochet era, respon... Please feel free to leave a comment, whether by agreement or by disagreement. Not believing in censorship, I tend to approve everything so long as it is not insulting / namecalling, or contains obscenities (no one in this group would do that!) (2) This might be of interest to those following events in the U.S. -- what's going on largely unreported, since aging white males who have been thrown out of the work force by having their jobs outsourced to third world countries for cheap labor, or replaced by automation, are the one group it is politically acceptable to dump on. We're history's villains, after all, and you know what? I haven't sexually harassed a single woman yet today (not even my wife, lol) ... nor have I yet repressed a single black person or Hispanic person or anyone in the LGBTQIJKLMWSTUVWXYZ community yet! A Devastating Report on Manâs Purpose - Manward Press A fresh report out of the Brookings Institution tells a devastating tale about manâs purpose. If we dare to open... Just one observation: it is not enough for a human being to just exist. Human beings must have some found purpose for doing so, a purpose that comes from outside themselves and which they can identify with strongly. Something that transcends the vagaries of immediacy. When that purpose is stolen from them by forces outside their control, even economic ones, and they've nothing to hold onto outside the materialist world, their lives easily go into a downward spiral from which they never recover. In the case of white men, it's now showing up in mortality statistics. White men are the one group in the Western world that is losing ground. They support a Donald Trump and continue to do so, because they identify with what they see: a man who appears to be giving the Establishment the finger. I've elsewhere commented on the pressure cooker that describes the cultural left in the U.S., and I'd give the chances of its exploding when Trump is reelected at 50-50 and going up from there. Especially if Democrats drag on this impeachment "process," and come up as empty as they did with "Russia- gate." The analogy I've been using: the effects there may make the explosion of unrest here look like a school cafeteria food fight by comparison. Those who know me, know that I believe very strongly that the removal of God from the Western world's cognitive "map" of reality, most complete in the intellectual centers by around 1900 and complete in the culture and business worlds by around 1970, was an error for which we have all paid in one way or another. Some have paid very dearly! If you want off this list just ask. And have a rockin' day! Before that he'd worked as a professor in the Columbia SC area, but lost his job for writing a published book exposing the 'civil rights' racket -- making him something of a truth hero. Thanks for the backstory.
No problem. I've written Steve and asked him to be more reporter and less philosopher on this ;) Interestingly Chile has for many years been regarded as the best emigration destination for non-plutocrats -- more stable and first-worldish than the rest of Latin America in most every way. This was ptly because, as Steve says, they modeled the post-Allende govt on the US Constitution. But how long can any LatAm govt be expected to last, ever? Or ANY govt in these hellish post-Christian times. Course that one's had a great run of it, relatively speaking. Dr. John Cobin is one of our other escapees down there -- looks like we'll have to wait a while for his take.
As far as I know, Penguinite is the only one here whose life was such that he could escape. The rest will just have to live it out here.
Right -- but since the idea of escaping ameriKa is so tangy and so many thousands of ppl are doing it, I think it's interesting to see how they fare. One middle-aged couple from here has found costs steeper than expected, but a young family I never knew seems to keep thriving further down the globe www.marketwatch.com/story...america-to-retire-by-the- lake-in-chile-on-about-3000-a-month-and-rarely-come-back-2019-06-03 Another middle-aged couple settled in idyllic Boquete, Panama -- dear friends of mine. They bought the promoters' promise that if you buy or build rental units tenants will come.... which has mostly not been the case so far.
