Pappy was a hard drinker. I remember watching an episode of Black Sheep Squadron with Robert Conrad as Pappy Boyington.
The episode was about Pappy and a Jap fighter pilot and they shot each other down. They ended up on the same island. When they met up, the first thing Pappy said to the Jap pilot was, "Where is the Saki?"
The Jap fighter pilot traded for some American chocolate. ;)
