If Iran announced they'd accept bitcoin for oil, it would make things interesting. Bitoin would go way up in value while giving all other countries willing a way to buy oil.
I've been here since the get-go, from Bret's place, with you and Chrissy. (Stand Opposed, that everyone abbreviated as SO, hence, Esso.)
Yes, I think Chrissy tipped me off on the connection. Long ago, in fact.
You are the only fellah that I'm aware that had the stones to bail from the usa.
Well, it's easier when you don't have any anchors holding you down in the USA. I sure didn't.
Thanks for taking over for Chrissy, I'm sure that was a huge burden on Christine and Bill. You're a big man, with a big responsibility. Thank YOU!
It's not such a big responsibility these days. I generally don't have to tell anyone anything. Well, not even "generally". I almost never moderate anything, and there are no spats, much less spats that require intervention. 4um is much smaller at this time than it was in its prime, the reason of course being social media like FB, twitter and whatever else pulling people away. Hell, people on FB are pretty much sick of politics for the most part as you can get (and give) massive doses of politics there daily.
But... major social media is growing in censorship rules, so maybe that will provide an attraction that could bring people back. The lack of advertisements is certainly an advantage as FB's got a crapload in it, of course.

I can sure appreciate that Big Boy. I had a chance to buy the only car shop on Niue, before some problems with a typhoon or something. Would've been my dream job as a wrench and a building contractor, but my mother was getting busy dying. My now ex- wife wasn't ready to leave her folks either.
A territory of NZ as I recall. Working on JDM cars and MCs, mopeds with only 1500 folks around. Shoot, that's what I was born for. Shoulda' been coulda' been, the hell with it.
I think I didd the right thing, sure doesn't fweel like it now.

NZ is unique in having about every kind of terrain there is somewhere in the small country. Desert, jungle, mountains, fields, snow, swamps.... they got it all. (One of the reasons it was chosen for shooting Lord of the Rings). I'd like to make it there eventually.
Did you know there are about 15x more sheep in NZ than people? Amazing. Cows/cattle now outnumber people as well. They have a reputation for their white wine.

We do what we need to do. Give it a shot in your next lifetime! Though it's never the same when one is born into a small place like that and "stuck for life" vs choosing to relocate to a simpler smaller town from their birthplace elsewhere. Unless one understands firsthand what it is they are escaping -- high taxes, world empire death, destruction and domination in your name, big brother, bureaucracy -- it's just not the same.
Emigrating to NZ or Australia on a work visa is hard to do once into middle age. At least without getting help from someone on the inside.
