They are important reminders of ALL of our natural thought processes at some point or another. It reminds me of a position that may surprise many... *I* researched my own past posts on the subject and lo and behold, had expressed my own theory not so long ago at LF to Deckard with respect to "Flat Earth." Dude. You can spot the ISS yourself using an app on your phone to tell you when and where it'll be in the sky in your area of the world. I've seen it twice myself. Once was on an early morning before the sun rose, I was checking the sky where it was supposed to appear, and lo and behold there was this bright object in the sky tracking exactly where it was supposed to. I used astronomical binoculars to get a good look and I could actually make out the shape of the solar panels. Another time I was up in Canada visiting relatives, and I showed them how cool the app was. It was about to pass right over head practically and I got them to go outside to take a look. Sure enough it appeared right where it was supposed to and traversed the sky according the projected path on the app. Space travel isn't make believe dude. You know not too long ago some people didn't think men could fly either. But in terms of the app, it can tell you where communication and weather satellites will be in sky as well. You need to get out of everything is a conspiracy mindset. I think the big problem is that people today are afraid to accept the fact that the universe is a REALLY big place, and like to limit their worldview to something more acceptable to what they can deal with. Go to an eastern US seacoast and take a picture of the Eiffel tower with your own camera. You can even use a telescope to help you see it. Oh wait, you can't because the Eiffel tower is thousands of miles past the horizon. You know how far the horizon is? From How Far Away is the Horizon? The old saying turns out to be just about true. For a six-foot tall person, the horizon is a little more than 3 miles (5 km) away. Geometry tells us that the distance of the horizon – i.e. the farthest point the eye can see before Earth curves out beneath our view – depends simply on the height of the observer. For example, if you stood atop Mount Everest (which is 29,029 feet, or 8,848 meters tall), the horizon would be about 230 miles (370 km) away. So if you're in the middle of the ocean and you're 6 feet tall, you can only see an area of about 9 square miles. That's why we need to use compasses and plot our position using navigation techniques such as using the position of the sun by day and the stars at night to traverse the ocean from point A to point B, using GLOBAL coordinates. And no, you can't see Europe from Cape Cod or anywhere else on the east coast of the US. Their is a few things I can say about this. We know the ISS is up there because we can follow it's transits with our own commercially available telescopes , that said, any scrutiny applied to what they say is from the inside of the iss reveals many many issues. So the question might become, "if it is really up there what in the fuck would be the point of faking footage from the inside"? To which I would respond, why wouldn't they? Why would they reveal the inner workings of the issues to the world and public at large including enemy nations that we would rather not see utilizing our technology. I mean look at Iran. One of our server drones crashed there and with in a year they reverse engineered our predator drones. If the footage was legit and real rouge states all over would be all over that. Gee whiz, was I trying to fool you to see who if any would catch my mistake, or did I do it by accident... I was thinking in terms of a square. But if you can see 3 miles 360 degrees, then it is not a square, it is a circle. The area of a square is the length of the square times the width, so the area A is the length * width of that square; So a 3 mile(length) * 3 mile(width) square is 9 square miles in area(A). A circle however has a different formula for area. We use the radius, 3 miles, to calculate the area as follows; Area (A) = Pi * Radius Squared (r2) So given a 3 mile radius, Area = 3.14 * (3 miles * 3 miles) = 28.6 square miles So if you were in the middle of the ocean, being 6 foot tall, you'd be able to see a total of 28.6 square miles.
