Every budget cycle, members of Congress solemnly promise to better fund the Internal Revenue Service so it can do its job of collecting taxes and serving the taxpayer. And once again, Congress has done the opposite.

According to an analysis by Robert Weinberger of the Tax Policy Center, the fiscal 2020 budget Congress passed last month continues the inflation-adjusted decline in IRS funding over the past 20 years.

The great news is they can do less persecuting of 'taxpayers'. The bad news is that people's cases and lives hang in limbo longer while agents get around to them.

the Internal Revenue Service... serving the taxpayer.

Reminds me of the old Twilight Zone episode with the Martians who came to Earth. They brought a big book with them, and some egghead was finally able to translate the title: To Serve Man. "Oh, they're here to help us!" exclaimed some hopeless optimist.

Turns out it was a cookbook.

Hahaaa, there's so much wisdom in old TV -- besides tons and tons of dreck.

Serling and his writers were simply genius, end of story.

I would just love to buy the original series -- used to enjoy watching an episode a day after the fact on NYC TV -- but then I just sit and watch 5 hours of it in a row. Vudu has all 5 seasons in HDX.

I'm sure we all love THE OBSOLETE MAN

Tell us more about Vudu, unless it's some sort of streaming service, thanks.

It is, and for anybody interested it's IMHO incredibly good. Signup is free and simple. They have all eras and genres. To rent or buy one you go to its page, select playback quality, pay and start watching.

For instance the Twilight Zone season 4 is $30. Forbidden Planet is $8 for either SD or HDX. You can rent anything if you'd rather -- this one's $3 for either grade.

They offer numerous things to watch free of charge, and at first any I tried were absolutely crammed with ads. But I recently tried one in which they were surprisingly few and far between. Sent it to a friend as a test and he said it played the same for him as non-member -- with much better delivery than on his Roku and other services he's seen.

You can search any title or name (e.g. an actor's) and very intuitive suggestions immediately pop. It's fun! The only small drawback is they don't give closing credits, and I'm a credits freak. So what -- there's IMSLP.

Vudu offers search filters such as subject and decade -- I of course head straight for 'Classics' and 1950s and under'. Hate most everything past about 1970.

Thanks for the information, I'd never heard of it, but there's lots I've never heard of...especially lately.
