Researchers warn more than 4,000 might already be infected...
Poster Comment:
Chinese hospitals turn away patients because they are overwhelmed. A lot more than 4,000 are infected if 3 cities have been quarantined.
Face masks in certain Chinese cities went up 1,000%.
Chinese New Year starts January 25th and ends February 11th. This is the year of the Rat.
Bad for the world economy because Chinese people can't travel to visit families at the holidays. People of Wuhan are wishing they had prepped for 6 weeks of food.
We can't get reliable info from China, but how can entire cities be quarantined? Sounds like it's done in apocalyptic sci-fi style.
The mortality rate seems relatively low at some 3-4%, in comparing infections to deaths, but that doesn't take into account the growing numbers infected. I.e. death figures will lag behind infection figures.
But there's also the question of severity of symptoms, even among those whom survive. If this bug really knocks people off their feet with pneumonia type symptoms then it could have a real economic impact. Mortality rates would then be higher than it otherwise should be if people die from this for lack of treatment. We're used to flu viruses killing elderly and infants with minimal immune systems. How different is this?
The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out... without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane, intolerable. ~ H. L. Mencken
It's hard to say how much of this is some kind of contrived crisis. I turn over every piece of info that I receive several times before I give it any credence.
There was this post on the comments to a ZH blog this morning sent in unfortunately without documentation. The numbers look similar to many that have been published of late. I'll be running them past someone who has a handle on such thing today.
45 minutes ago Better Summary:
Coronavirus (Snake Flu) is 2.2x more contagious than the common flu, and on par with the Spanish Flu that killed 500 Million people in the early 1900's.
Snake Flu is in it's early pandemic stages, but based upon the deaths so far, the mortality rate is 2x the common flu.
Snake Flu has a completely un-imaginable long incubation (7-14 days) (patient has no visible symptoms) and saturation period (4-6 weeks) (time between when patient first develops a symptom, to the time of death or discharge from a hospital)
Snake Flu has been known virus in the City of Wuhan since December, however, it has only recently (past week) spiked in cases there.
Snake Flu is likely global, and due to it's long incubation and saturation periods, is not containable at this point.
The Chinese measures of quarantine, and 6 day new hospital building, are likely due to highly anticipated 2nd round virus mutation, that potentially has already occurred.
I'd say those with weakened immune systems have the highest chances of a bad outcome. Thing is, that would include those who have been recently vaccinated.
