One of the Democrats’ star witnesses in the House’s impeachment inquiry was Lt. Colonel Alexander Vindman.
Critics contend Vindman acted as a source for alleged whistleblower Eric Ciaramella by whining about President Trump not following the Deep State’s “interagency process” on Ukraine.
In his testimony, Vindman came off a smug, self-important bureaucrat who thought he – and not President Trump – should be making United States policy with regards to Ukraine.
During a recent broadcast of his Fox News program Tucker Carlson had on Congressman Devin Nunes as a guest.
Carlson wondered why Vindman – and his twin brother who serves as a lawyer on the National Security Council – were still employed in the Trump administration despite participating in a coup to overthrow the President.
“Why not just say, ‘Mr. Vindman and your lawyer brother, take a hike?'” Carlson wondered. “Nobody elected Mr. Vindman to anything, or his lawyer brother, or any of these people. The government exists for our benefit and it’s not working, so why is it so hard to do that?”
“That’s why I think I gave them very good advice which is, there’s plenty of empty buildings. Just say ‘Look, thank you for your service, just get off the premises,'” Nunes responded.
“Go work for Ukraine,” Carlson quipped.
“Maybe he will at some point,” Nunes answered.
In point of fact, Ukrainian officials offered Vindman the position as the nation’s Minister of Defense on three occasions.
To many sharp-eyed observers that looked like an intelligence service trying to recruit a potential source.
And it adds another layer of questions that make Vindman an unreliable witness at best and a rogue at worst.
