The people are celebrating in the streets because Mike Pompeo and friends have finally liberated them from the clutches of the bad guys. I mean, that’s what they told us would happen, right?

Anyways, let’s just forget about the details and just look at the happy crowds!

RT:

A massive demonstration –called for by a prominent Shia cleric– has flooded the streets of the Iraq’s capital Baghdad, with thousands voicing their anger at the US military presence there.

Early on Friday morning, throngs of protesters – men and women, young and old – began amassing at al-Hurriya Square in central Baghdad, near the city’s main university. The anti-America rally, dubbed the “Million-man March,” was called by Moqtada al-Sadr, Iraq’s top Shiite cleric.

Some were wearing white robes, symbolizing their readiness to die for a religious cause, while others were pictured holding signs that read: “To the families of American soldiers – insist on the withdrawal of [your] sons from our country or prepare their coffins!”

What they are really trying to say is that they appreciate all of the Humans Right Democracy that the US has brought to their country and want more of it, please.

Jokes aside, Iraq is about to go up in flames.

This protest is a line in the sand moment, but for the Iraqis. We have yet another million-man march, right on the heels of the million-man march in Iran following the death of the good Colonel. If this doesn’t show some sort of consensus in the region, I don’t know what does.

Trump never counted on an Iraqi rebellion when he gave the go ahead to kill Soleimani. How some people can claim Trump has been doing great on foreign matters (I read that claim somewhere this morning) is a real mystery. And whereas he campaigned on bringing troops home, he now is threatening Iraq with sanctions if they kick us out. That's not just a broken promise, and not just a 180. That's pulling a 180 on turbocharged afterburner.

I think Trump is embarrassed at the reproach he's getting for being a tough guy. He greatly miscalculated the fallout from the assassination, and he doesn't want to admit it. I know he's both very proud of the US military and very highly respectful of America's troops. But how is he going to handle it if and when the first servicemen, dead as a consequence of his miscalculated decisions, start landing on US soil? What explanation will he give the families?

Of course I'm not anti-Trump in all things, as he's done well domestically, and I will never regret Trump defeating Hillary. But when he screws up, he should be called on it.

But when he screws up, he should be called on it.

Trump has too many Neocons whispering in his ear. And the Soleimani hit is one that can be bantered about for a long time.

Since Soleimani was Commander of the Quds Force, he was a main player in support of Hamas and Hezbollah in their fights against the Zionists in Israel. ;)

Word I got was he was in a conference asking for suggestions on what the US could do. The Deep State brass started with the most extreme suggestion with the idea of suggesting less and less extreme options until Trump agreed to something. Killing Soleimani was on the top of the list and Trump went with it.

It was a choice founded on Trump's military and American pride, and not on strategic and diplomatic considerations.

Since Soleimani was Commander of the Quds Force, he was a main player in support of Hamas and Hezbollah in their fights against the Zionists in Israel. ;)

Yes, I can believe that. He was also assisting Iraq in the fight against ISIS, to whatever extent it still exists at this point.

the fight against ISIS

Some ISIS fighters wanted to torch some Christians with a flame thrower.

But British SAS had a different idea. They shot the fuel tank of the flame thrower with a .50 BMG from a mile away and fried the ISIS fighters. ;)
