Seemed as though (along with a perception since the 1930s) that GOP were the "party of the rich," ergo of Big Banks, and the Dems (lead by FDR-socialists) were the "Party of the working class." THAT CHANGED QUICKLY.

I don't concur with the rest of the above assessment, motives and any blanket-blame. The dynamics must be assessed fat more closely for an honest overview.

One could easily make the argument that while FDR did step in and provide crucial help to the working class during the Depression, he was also simultaneously ushering in Bolshvics-Lite economics. Let's not forget that his admin illegally confiscated GOLD.

As to the above social engineering claims of the GOP, anything and everything was possible -- though temporarily. The truth of the matter: It's always been the goal of Communists to destroy traditional gender roles, the family, and the concept of God.
