Trump Trolls Senate Democrat Caught Meeting With Iranian Regime: That Sure Sounds Like A ‘Violation Of The Logan Act’ February 20, 2020 After hearing news first reported by The Federalist that Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy privately met with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif on Tuesday, President Donald Trump said the meeting sounds like a violation of the Logan Act. “I saw that Sen. Murphy met with the Iranians. Is that a fact? I just saw that on the way over,” Trump said to a group of reporters at Joint Base Andrews-Naval Air Facility. “That sounds like to me a violation of the Logan Act.” twitter.com/cspan/status/1229846285248757762 The Logan Act is a federal law passed in 1799 that prohibits American citizens from negotiating with foreign powers. Murphy previously called for the Department of Justice to investigate former national security adviser Michael Flynn for violating the Logan Act in 2017. “Any effort to undermine our nation’s foreign policy, even during a transition period, may be illegal and must be taken seriously,” he said following anonymous leaks of a phone call Flynn had with a Russian ambassador, Sergey Kislyak. Murphy also previously defended other unofficial, shadow diplomacy by Democrats such as former Secretary of State John Kerry, who met with high-level Iranian officials in 2018. Murphy admitted Tuesday morning in a Medium post that he met with Zarif on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference last week. In the post, he described Iran as “our adversary, responsible for the killing of thousands of Americans.” While participating in a panel discussion at the Munich conference, Murphy stressed that he was “not here to be a defender of the [Trump] administration’s policy in the Middle East.” “He’s a critic,” interjected the panel moderator. “I would be characterized as a – as a critic,” the Democratic senator agreed.

President Bone Spur, Trump, should look to one of his lords and god Reagan. When Reagan was running for president, his people meets with Iran to hold the hostages until the election was over, then told Iran to hold the people until Reagan was in office.
Not so clever misdirection. Pres. Trump has praised Abraham Lincoln in speeches. That doesn't mean that he is going to suspend habeas corpus any time soon. It doesn't mattaer a damned thing what country Reagan's "people meets with," you cannot associate a man with anything that displeases you simply because it pleases you. That's just frelling stupid.

You might not recall this, but when Jimmy Carter was POTUS the inflation rate was 14.8% and interest rates were as high as 18%. Stupid like a fox. The President has not leveled formal charges against anyone, although he is entitled to do so when the situation warrants it. But for a US senator to meet privately with the foreign minister of another country, let alone one with a history of animosity and friction with us, should occasion attention and raise questions.
The S&Ls would have recovered as interest rates fell and the loans they held were refied...what really killed them was the deregulation that allowed them to leverage ALL of their assets, insolvent included, into junk bonds...

I agree that he is a predator but can a fox add 2 and 2? Federal crimes require a grand jury charge...but the *Take Care* clause does not empower a POTUS to declare any act of Congress, which includes subpoenas, null and void... Reagan's Tax Reform Act of 1986 was the direct cause of the S&L debacle. It changed the tax rules for real estate investors and many thousands just mailed the keys back to their lenders. No s#!t. Back in the day, I invested in TIGRs that paid 18%. Last year, I got into a 13mo CD that pays 2something% at a CU, but the catch was that it had to be "new" money, not from the CU. And I will tell you dis, bubba. You can accuse Pres. Trump of anything you choose, but you cannot say that he is corrupt. If he were, the greaseballs on the other side would have long ago indicted and convicted him, locked him up and thrown away the key. Those bastards are not short of the lawyers and judges necessary to get the job done either. I will add that in my humble opinion, the jackals that would like to nail him are themselves deeply corrupt, and I am awaiting judgement on that. It may yet happen. Cheers.
