I need to rent a car or something for a gal that's going to visit her sister's dying husband. She wanted to drive from Ft. Wayne, IN, to Tampa, FL, but at 72, she shouldn't. Me and her son that can't be there for her bought airplane tics, but apparently with the kids & spring break going on, you can't rent a sensible car for anything at a decent rate. If anybody's down there, buying a car and turning it back in at a reasonable loss isn't out of the question.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Her son, Jon was here at my joint for 10+hrs figuring out how to get the flight for her, but daymn, it shouldn't cost $60+/day for a compact.
Help me y'all if ya can, I'm trying to keep her comfortable and safe, but there's only so much that I can bear.
FWIW, she gets to St. Pete-Clearwater Intl. Apt.(PIE) at 5:10pm local, 03/07/20, and leaves 03/17/20 at 3:15pm.
