In his early years, the future Nazi leader drafted an opera based on an unfinished work by Wagner. Now, the musical manuscript is on display for the first time.

Opera, Nazism, Hitler and the Holocaust have a complex history. With the playing of the Rienzi Overture at Hitler’s Nazi Party rallies in the 1930s, Wagner and German opera became forever associated with the propaganda, evil and horrors of the Third Reich.

But beyond Wagner’s music, many might be surprised to learn that, when he was 20 years old, Adolf Hitler himself wrote an opera.

Wieland der Schmied (Wieland the Smith) was drafted by the future Nazi leader in 1908 and based on an unfinished work of the same name by German composer Richard Wagner – his admiration for whom is well- documented.

In his first volume of Mein Kampf, Hitler wrote: “At the age of twelve, I saw… the first opera of my life, Lohengrin. In one instant I was addicted. My youthful enthusiasm for the Bayreuth Master [Wagner] knew no bounds.”

Now, a sheet from the manuscript is on display in Austria in a new exhibition of artefacts from the dictator’s early life, showing how his past shaped his ideology. A piano sketch of the first page was made by one of young Hitler’s few friends, August Kubizek....

"one of young Hitler's few friends" -- does that have any basis in fact, or is it a gratuitous swipe?

In other musical news, look at the mystery-meat freak they're trying to turn Bach into:

https://www.classicfm.com/composers/bach/experts-created-true-face/

His portraits all show him as light-skinned with ruddy cheeks or a normal light-tan caucasian skin tone. They're grotesquely darkening him in these artists' conceptions -- and you know it's political. I don't think it's paranoia. They're trying to force black car interiors on as many customers as possible, and when I first hunted my present model of laptop it was extremely difficult to find a good one that wasn't solid black. (Among its many other great assets, it's a 'champagne silver' metallic hue.

I'm telling you, they're forcing the 'black is beautiful' mentality on us like it was still 1965 -- indeed, the whole establishment is still stuck in that era. They nigged Cheddar Man and now they're doing it to the greatest artistic genius of the ages to show their burning oedipal hatred of whitey. They're crazy, dangerous kooks!

If that bistre Bach had been a half shade darker, instead of composing the Brandenburg Concertos he might have invented peanut butter.

LOLOLOLOLOL!!! Maybe that's exactly what's in the back of their little minds -- they'd rather be modeling and conjuring G.W. Carver so they painted Johann Sebastian a peanutty color ;)

Hitler and the Holocaust

When I worked for the State of Illinois, we had a foreman who was a Sudeten German. When Germany annexed the Sudetenland he volunteered for the Waffen SS. (You could not be a member of the Wehrmacht unless you were a native born German.)

His father protested to his camp Commander that he was being treated too harshly in boot camp. He was arrested and sent to the camps in Germany as a dissenter.

The last I heard old Kraus had not found a trace of him. A lot of people disappeared in those camps.

Kraus was captured by the Russians. He was riding on a prison wagon with a female guard. She fell asleep and dropped her rifle. He jumped off the wagon, retrieved the rifle and woke her up. She gave him a big kiss and told him if she had lost her rifle they would have killed her.

He was one of the few to be repatriated. Many of them died in the gulag as late as 1952.

One night I was out on Night Patrol and a snow squall blew in off the lake and turned everything white. I called for back up. Kraus lived way south in Skokie where the Jews lived before they moved up and out. Skokie was way south in the area. He came on the radio and said, "Where is the snow?" I told him, "It's up north. Come on up here."

It took me and my back up driver the rest of the night to clean everything up. ;)

That's innaresting.

The SS was declared to be a criminal organization by the US government after WW II.

If a man had an SS number tattoo on his arm or declared membership in that outfit, he was by law denied entry into the US.

The SS was an all volunteer force excepting toward the end of the war when they started drafting guys. Those were the breaks.

Is that so?

How do you explain Heinrich Mueller, former Chief of Gestapo, being brought to the U.S. after his 1946 interrogation in Switzerland?

He was given a rank of Major in the U.S. Army and he played the piano for Harry Truman.

Hint: Mueller was brought here because his specialty was Soviet counter-intelligence. And we all know where the Soviet Union is today. ;)

Yeah, the Hitler dream is a mirage too. That's what we're down to - - stumbling from one mirage to another. He rescued Germany from its crucifixion by the Allies after WW1 but you hear this bad stuff too, and now Germany is the most enthusiastically enslaved and raped country on earth.

Except for US, UK, France, Sweden et al, of course.

Is that so?

Yes, it is so.

There were contrivances like Operation Paperclip however that allowed our spooks to arrange nearly everything to their liking.

Ordinary SS guys were not supposed to apply to emigrate here generally speaking.

Operation Paperclip

Under that operation they brought scientists and military people to the U.S.

It was a treasure trove that they opened up, especially with the rocket scientists and those working on nuclear projects.

The Titan V rocket was five V-2s strapped together.

The Soviet scientists screwed up and were using a few dozen smaller thrusters that did not have the same lift capacities. ;)

Hitler began writing the opera after just a few months of piano lessons, according to one of the exhibition’s curators, Christian Rapp.

Rapp told AFP that Hitler’s ambitious project clearly demonstrated the future dictator’s “inflated sense of his own abilities”.

Takes more ability than most have to even write a bad opera, especially after a few music lessons.
