If you’ve ever been to college, or submitted a list to Listverse, you’ll be familiar with those three magic words: “Don’t reference Wikipedia”. Yet in spite of its reputation for unreliability, Wikipedia is the 5th biggest website on Earth, and a major source of information for people all over the world. But when something becomes as big as Wikipedia, any issues it has can suddenly affect millions, or even billions, of people. That is what makes the following problems so worrying. Poster Comment: This author is a 'liberal' knucklehead so he misses the fact that wikid's rigidly enforced bias is wacko leftism, but here's a mildly interesting article and comment section. ONLY ten?? ;-) What amazes me is wikid's articles on the Clintoons -- they're as glowing as glowing can be. Unreal. That is Exhibit "A" as to why Wikipedia should be totally and immediately dismissed or cited as ANY legit authoritah on ANY subject. It's been a bogus source of "facts" for several years, yet people are still citing it... as though. It still blows my mind when it or Snopes OR any number of obvious leftist disinfo sources are cited to help decide any argument over "facts." For objective information Wiki is OK, whereas their subjective information is most suspect, imo.

Exactly. And how best to create credibility than by citing factual, objective info that can easily be validated by several other sources? The best propaganda is mostly facts, festooned with lies. It's at the fringe edge of "factual" info where wiki blatantly engages in outright subjective disinfo, misinfo and lies. (same of Snopes until they got busted.) But at that point, Wiki relies on lazy researchers and established, undeserved rep. Info and unverifiable "facts" are adjusted and manipulated at the drop of a hat from this week to last week. Wikipedia like Snopes is co-opted, owned and operated by agenda-driven subversives. It's like taking candy from a baby to the in-curious. Agree with you 101% -- about the areas wikid and snopes do mess up. I have to admit, tho, that they do tons of good work on anything they can't bend in a leftward or satanic direction. In fact a surprising amount of the time they just admit the politically- incorrect truth on those subjects. But when they're bad they're very, very bad -- disgraceful lying commie bastards and bitches. Tyrants too -- if you go in and correct a lie, I understand they instantly jump up and change it back. I'm sure I refer wikid 100 times a week or more and was just checking something in snopes the other day. What I found stunning in the article is "the fact that they have about $100 million in reserves shouldn’t raise any eyebrows, as they have to plan for unforeseen circumstances." HUH -- the way they plead for donations? Aren't they a nonprofit? The link footnoted on that paragraff goes to meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fundraising/2018-19_Report Which says the team raised $113 million in donations for 2018-19. Agreed. If you want to know how to design a Finite Impulse Response (FIR) digital filter, it's pretty reliable. But I wouldn't trust it on, say, the subject of IQ vs. race or sex.
I use startpage.com for searches and it gives me (too) many choice of source-sites to get information, including Wiki.

I use startpage when I want look at google results, otherwise I mostly use duckduckgo and swisscows. The problem I have with google is they leave out pages that don't meet their approval. I don't need their protection. With a name like that, who won't check out swisscows? Thank you.
