We were at a police and firemen benefit on near north side of Chicago. Tracy Lawrence was playing for that one. JD Spangler was the DJ at 99.5 WUSN. I was the guardian at the gate where guests were sitting.

After the show I was in the alley and these two girls went up to the bus and knocked on the door. I told them, "Ladies, get away from the bus."

Then the roadies put a few boxes at the end of the alley. I was standing there watching to make sure no one tried to make off with anything. One of the roadies asked what I was doing. I said, "I'm watching your stuff. If someone does not watch your stuff, the darkies will pull up in a van and grab it so fast your heads would be spinning."

A few minutes later the Road Manager came out and shook my hand and thanked me. He said, "Any time Tracy Lawrence is in town, you're welcome to come see him." I never did get to take him up on it. :-/

I wonder if he laid up for himself any treasures in heaven?

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

I think it was Ephesians 2, something or other, that said something like, "Good deeds won't buy your way into Heaven, only a belief in Christ." Been a long time.

It was Ephesians 2:8-10. You probably already know it.

I told him, "God had his hand on your shoulder."

When I became a private pilot in 1989, yeah you goaded me into dragging out my old logbook, the FAA examiner told the FBO, "This is the best stick-and-rudder man you've ever turned out."

Most of the time, I flew in N89373, a Cessna 152, 2-seater out of 07C (Auburn). Sometimes I got stuck with N757RN (as in Raunchy Nasty). A couple of times I had to fly a C172 4-seater, N80519. That one kinda sucked too, might've as well been flying a glider.

Back to the story, the first passenger for me as pilot-in-command, was my mother. Short hop, left Auburn flew north, did a turn around-a-point at the Angola round-a-bout, flew to Coldwater, MI so she could see a relative's lake and cottage from the air. Beautiful day, no turbulence, nothing.

Well, when me and Mom got back to 07C, when I landed, "it was as if God (maybe Dad) put his hand on that big, Hershey Bar wing and set it down so gently, that you couldn't even feel the landing gear spin up." I was almost unsure if we were on the ground. She was never afraid at all.

That was the first time she was ever in an aircraft, as it turned out, the last. I think I did good.

You're a pilot too. So am I. Got my license in '92. Took me a number of years and didn't do much more after I got my license. While I enjoyed it and would like to do it again, it was a kinda lonely way to spend money in aircraft rental. Yes, a C-152 was my plane also. I took my mom up also.

I did fly some ultralights after that. They are good fun. Far better visibility than a small plane like a Cessna.

I'm a bit of a fan of the Zenith homebuilt aircraft. They have a low wing model and several high wings as well, most of which are designed for STOL -- short takeoff & landing capability.

Did a lot of time in a Piper Tomahawk (TraumaHawk), low wing, out of Smith Field in FW for awhile. There was something else in my logbook, I have no idea what it was. Might be a "secret", who knows? :)

(Edit) Lost a lot of memory when texting woman dusted me off in 2013. Might've been a friend's plane, don't know. I could find out pretty easily, but then again, maybe I don't want to.

I prefer one crisis (or panicdemic at a time). :)

That's beautiful, Esso.

My sister has a bunch of old letters that my mother and grandmother wrote to each other 65 years ago. Interesting to see that life was simpler, and though in some ways harder, still better than it is now. Back before the civil riots movement, women's lib, white dispossession, the police state, etc. without end.

Celebrity means less than nothing to me, but I do appreciate beauty in the fairer sex. So I'm afraid that if hopelessly stranded with Grace Kelly 70 years ago, I might have eventually succumbed to race mixing.

Faye Dunaway? -- I would have immediately started building a raft to float her -- and only her -- away from my island. Better to live and die alone.

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. -- Titus 3:5-7

There was one at my airfield, but I've never even flown in a low wing. Looked like a fun plane though.

I'm remembering now my trainer was a C-150, not a 152. Don't remember the difference though. I did fly a C-172 a few times. Same but bigger.
