Efforts to slow the impact of the coronavirus have been compared to rations and restrictions WWII-style and people are getting more anxious every day. This is evident in the panic-buying incidents taking place world-wide and in the fear you see in people’s eyes when you pass too close to them in a shopping center. However, there is much to be said for the positive side of this pandemic (pardon the pun). People are uniting worldwide to fight ‘a common enemy’ and even political parties are setting aside their differences and putting the needs of the people first.Heroes are popping up everywhere and heartwarming tales are beginning to saturate the internet as much as the tales of panic and mayhem have. On this list are just 10 examples of uplifting things that have the potential to keep people somewhat sane in these crazy times.

Some of these benefits are environmental. #6 is a painful reminder of one of the horrible effects our offshoring has done to China: "CO2 emissions were down by at least 25% between 3 February and 1 March as China’s coal usage is plummeting. While it is likely that the pollution levels will increase again once the pandemic is contained, it is great to see blue skies again where the smog was potent enough to kill."

Nature is certainly getting well-deserved a vacation from humanity.

Thanks for the listverse linkage; I found this much more interesting:

OMG, fantastic -- muchas gracias! One of the site's more serious pages.

Just a friendly reminder to you all that this is a site worth watching and even getting a free subscription to for multiple daily pages via (single) email. The content is one part jew propaganda, one part bunk and three parts information of keen interest.

YOU CAN MAKE MONEY writing for the site! Last I heard it was $100 a day per 10-point list. Its editor Jamie Frater is a wishy-washy conservatoid, but DON'T mention me or 4um to him if you want to get the job.

Jamie's message about the site from the other day:

Site Update: State Of Listverse

https://listverse.com/2020/03/20/site-update-state-of-listverse- march-2020/? utm_source=Listverse+Subscribers&utm_campaign=1ecb9ae2c1- MAILCHIMP_DAILY_LIST&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_5bcc7c5c82- 1ecb9ae2c1-56162337

As I've said before there's a crying need for polite, persistent participation in the comments section of each page -- emphasis on persistent. Refute the lies, share the facts (paste links and quotes) meet the history haters blow for blow and I think it does some good.

Do you live in KY? Not that you have to to be embarrassed about such scenes.

A compatriot who lives in the Bluegrass State says people there cannot be persuaded to give a damn about anything "political", except that they really really hate homosexuals and lesbians. On any other crucial subject it's like talking to a brick wall.

If so I'm guessing they enjoy a pleasant illusion of being far away from the mostly coastal-driven madness of gliberal socialism and peecee, partly thanks to these figures:

Of course he told me that mebbe 15ya.

Yes, I live in Kentucky, but I was born in New Yawk City.

Cost of living is great and the weather is tolerable.

Geezo. I wonder how they manage their weight, or do they at all? ;)

the weather is tolerable.

I was in Kentucky one time when driving the big truck. I had a delivery going up near Cincinnati for midnight delivery and it was snowing hard.

The four wheelers started sliding off the road. I got off at the next truck stop, found a parking spot and called the dispatcher. They rescheduled my delivery for 10 AM the next morning.

When the cars start to slide off the road, it is not much longer before the trucks start going. It was the right thing to do. ;)

When we get a surprising 4" or 6" of snow this place is in near lockdown and vehicles are in ditches. They're not idiots, but they aren't used to driving on slick roads.

1/2" and they close schools.

I've considered moving there many times. One of my expat friends explored the possibility but said there's significant water contamination 'at both ends of the state'?

What part of NYC, BTW? I grew up in Union Co. NJ and was in it many times -- my father commuted to Midtown each day, had a college pal from Staten Island (whose parents are still living there almost 50 years later), etc. My druncle lived on Carmine St. in the West Village for like 60 years.

Same here. But in Chicago the schools were still open if they got 6" of snow. I remember going to school in that slop. We had to walk half a mile in it. ;)
