Goats try everything but only eat what is nutritious and/or they think tastes good. I have seen videos of goats used to clear land. Then after the goats come the hogs uprooting trees. Chickens come after bugs including the maggots hanging out at cow pies. Cows are first because they trample everything including the briars. Goats eat kudzu.
About 40 years ago a guy at work told me a good goat story.
A guy bought a new car -- a convertible -- and drove it over to his farmer friend's house to show it off to him. When they came out of the house to look at the car, the farmer's goat was standing on its hind legs, chest resting on top of the car, with its front legs sticking through the fabric of the convertible top.
He told the story as true, but I'll admit it sounds kind of urban legendary.
Here's one I know is true: When we bought the house we're still living in, the previous owners tried to leave their goat here with the house. (It was tied to a stake in the front yard -- no fence.) We said no way - - y'all take the goat with you. They were two of the most decent people I ever met.
They were moving to a subdivision in town where livestock was no doubt frowned upon. I think their kids had outgrown their pet goat -- or maybe it outgrew them? They were ready to get rid of it.
