Notice that the goats chose the more nutrtious shrubs and flowers over the lawns.

But goats are famous for not being picky.

Goats try everything but only eat what is nutritious and/or they think tastes good. I have seen videos of goats used to clear land. Then after the goats come the hogs uprooting trees. Chickens come after bugs including the maggots hanging out at cow pies. Cows are first because they trample everything including the briars. Goats eat kudzu.

From Google

What Goats Will Eat. One of the best things about goats is that they can eat most poisonous plants, even ones that are poisonous to people, like poison ivy and poison oak.

I've been thinking about getting a couple of goats for eating the brush and maybe milking.

About 40 years ago a guy at work told me a good goat story.

A guy bought a new car -- a convertible -- and drove it over to his farmer friend's house to show it off to him. When they came out of the house to look at the car, the farmer's goat was standing on its hind legs, chest resting on top of the car, with its front legs sticking through the fabric of the convertible top.

He told the story as true, but I'll admit it sounds kind of urban legendary.

Here's one I know is true: When we bought the house we're still living in, the previous owners tried to leave their goat here with the house. (It was tied to a stake in the front yard -- no fence.) We said no way - - y'all take the goat with you. They were two of the most decent people I ever met.

maybe milking.

Goat milk is rich and creamy, much more so than cow milk. They sometimes have goat cheese at Wal Mart. ;)

I guess they didn't care about leaving the goat behind. Maybe they didn't have a place to keep it after they moved. ;)

They were moving to a subdivision in town where livestock was no doubt frowned upon. I think their kids had outgrown their pet goat -- or maybe it outgrew them? They were ready to get rid of it.

Goat milk

Oh, no. I might have to tell my other -- not-so-pleasant -- goat story now...

I'll have to fence in an area so that nobody can get my goat.

Goats are social animals. You cannot have just one goat. Cow's milk is bad for humans. You might want to save money on goat feed by broadcasting some seeds so they can eat the plants. If you are in the South and have a portable fence, you can hire them out to Kudzu and poison Ivy.
