American clergy couldn’t close their doors fast enough when bureaucrats and politicians “suggested” they do so—but such kowtowing has only emboldened Leviathan. The beast no longer contents itself with urging parishioners to stay home: it now forbids them to convene. And it’s persecuting dissidents. In Florida, Rev. Rodney Howard-Browne “was arrested Monday at his home one day after his church was packed with worshippers…,” while Rev. Tony Spell in Louisiana “fac[es] misdemeanor charges for holding services…” that attracted 1,265 attendees. No wonder crowds crammed both churches: if Southern ecclesiastics are as biddable as their counterparts elsewhere, none but our heroes defied the demonic decrees against assembling. That left Christians with one venue alone for corporate worship in their respective states last Sunday. And just as federal perverts continue groping passengers in airports nineteen years after controlled demolition pulverized the World Trade Center, so alleged pandemics will justify “lockdowns”—i.e., martial law—decades hence. COVID-19 is the new 9/11. But not if courageous Christians defy Our Rulers. Dr. Howard-Browne previously mocked the hysteria over this flu; that may account for Leviathan’s hounding him now. Self-important officials hate ridicule as much as they do such fans of limited government as Dr. Howard-Browne. Rev. Spell likewise dismisses the furor over flu as “politically motivated” and insists that “no ‘dictator law’ should keep people from worshiping God.” Going for broke, he added, “We hold our religious rights dear, and we are going to assemble no matter what someone says.” Is that a chorus of Founding Fathers I hear shouting, “AMEN!”? Meanwhile, the persecution of these saints resembles that of martyrs overseas. China hounds its Christians and their churches when it isn’t outright torturing them; it, too, justifies its oppression as “protecting” citizens, in this case from Westernization. Finally, “The Sheriff’s Office also placed a digital sign on the road near the church driveway that said ‘practice social distancing.’” Wanna bet Chad didn’t placard the roads near Leviathan’s bureaucracies? Regardless, his intimidation couldn’t sway our brave brothers from their duty. Rather than tormenting Christians itself, India’s government sometimes entrusts the task to their Hindu neighbors while turning a blind eye to the abuse. Louisiana’s rulers pulled a similar trick as protestors and the media disrupted the Life Tabernacle’s services. Then “Chief Roger Corcoran with Central Police Department” slandered the pastor: “Mr. Spell has chosen to embarrass us for his own self-promotion. Mr. Spell will have his day in court where he will be held responsible for his reckless and irresponsible decisions that endangered the health of his congregation and our community …” The governor also piled on: “‘I’m a person of faith,’ Governor [John Bel] Edwards said,” apparently under the impression that claims of piety atone for despotism. “‘I happen to believe very much in the awesome power of prayer. I also believe in [sic for ‘idolize’] science, and the scientists at the CDC say that the measures we are taking will minimize the spread. The law enforcement authorities … have been extremely patient. There have been numerous conversations with the pastor and they have done everything that they could to try and get him to become compliant before they took this step today. …” Corcoran echoed these sentiments while emphatically denying reality: “This is not an issue over religious liberty, and it’s not about politics. We are facing a public health crisis and expect our community’s leaders to set a positive example and follow the law.” Ah, yes, The Law. Which brings us to Caesar’s age-old war against Jehovah. The State dismisses Christianity as a variant of the local stuffed-animal factory: its product pleases innocents too dumb to know better and provides some jobs—but it’s “non-essential.” Temporal authorities thereby mistake their puny, passing power for the Church’s eternal might. And they briefly triumphed in America: a free people recognized government for the needless, impoverishing, and utterly wicked racket it is, disdained it, and strove to confine it. I believe most would prefer to be free to do whatever they choose and I am among them. I also believe that many are concerned that if they should defy the stay at home orders that exist in some areas they might contribute to someone else's illness or death. I am in that category as well. I do know we cannot allow this to continue for too long or the country itself will suffer beyond measure. At the same time prudence requires us all to give consideration to preserving people's health but be prepared to exercise our right to exert or rights and freedom of movement having given the authorities a reasonable time to defeat the virus, and if not then we must tough it out ! "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. " The best thing about old age is that it doesn't last forever.
