In the Crime Bill of 1994, on Bill Clintonâs watch, there was a provision that said, âthere would be a decal on the car which authorized them to stop us to determine whether we were traveling for âapprovedâ purposesâ. So itâs finally here. They just needed an excuse to implement it. we have silly things here as well. Women can go out on Mon, Wed, Fri. Men can go out Tue, Thurs, Sat. based on the last number on your cedula or passport you have a 2 hour window you can be out doing your errnands. "The government of Panama is expanding its quarantine to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, effective Wednesday, April 1st, at 5:00AM. Use the same hours and mobility based on last digit of the cedula or passport as is currently in effect -- except that women only are allowed out on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and men only on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays. Everyone is to stay home on Sundays. All of this until further notice. A news article from La Prensa, and another from La Estrella have been posted on Chiriqui.Life (CL) website. Click on the below link to read them. www.chiriqui.life/topic/14130-panama-and-the- coronavirus- covid-19-pandemic/?do=findComment&comment=40142 These articles are in Spanish, but an automated translation is provided immediately below those two articles. Bud and Marcelyn Owners/Administrators of Chiriqui.Life support@chiriqui.life www.chiriqui.life there is a curfew too. 5pm-5am. if you break curfew, you get detained and fined. Actually, the major quarantine and curfew breakers have been in Panama City. There have been looting and riots. Police have walked off the job! I guess, theyâre implementing the restrictions nationwide, but the problem is in PC. we have plenty of food and supplies on the shelves, so thereâs no problem there. Weâve continued to work at home and secretly at the Mata del Frances house. But hardware stores arenât open, so when we run out of hardware type supplies, weâll be at a stalemate. I hope the hardware stores will open soon. other than that, all is well. Paul and I are so far removed from civilization, that thereâs not much danger of getting infected with âChina virusâ. There arenât many instances of it in this part of the country. most instances, of course are in the high density population areas, like PC. I think theyll open up the country there before we get open. Panama usually follows whatever US does. so weâll see how this plays out. Poster Comment: Lotta my friends have emigrated to escape Big Brother and the NWO. The whole idea has been that Chile or Panama or Ecuador (etc.) are healthier societies with less extreme tyranny than here. I knew Panama still felt the bern, er, heat of US dominance even though DC pulled out decades ago, but this wonderful country is obviously still living in fear of its former tormentor. Or does it simply have Stockhom syndrome -- or a short memory? "Panama usually follows whatever US does" -- words I never expected to hear of this special, much-less-jaded country. Indeed I was again thinking of picking up and moving there on the assumption it would be free of this corononsense. These folks live in Boquete, no less -- an idyllic mountain town 6 hours from the big city. Normally I'm telling the wonderful folks who wrote the above that they should just move back here, because their move, setting up a new life, getting permanent residency et al have been an arduous FT job for them for most of a decade. Guess they might as well, having built a perfect bugout base! They won't, tho -- the weather. Post Comment Private Reply Ignore Thread
