Epidemiologist Anders Tegnell is the hero who saved Sweden from the lockdown madness.

Sweden has no lockdown and it is not doing any worse than Western countries that imposed strict lockdowns.

In fact, Sweden is doing better than most countries enforcing lockdowns.

Great news -- I'll bet the same is happening in Holland!

In the US, authorities have never seen a problem that more govt dominance wouldn't cure. For the supposedly freest country in the world we're extremely authoritarian. The more crazed and tyrannical govt gets the more Amurricans think they're getting their money's worth.

Dunno about Holland, the country, but the people are sturdy. A 107 year old Dutch woman is the oldest known Covid 19 survivor.

Good for her. My point is Holland is the other major country not under house arrest. Course Belarus is a lot bigger and it didn't either.

Sweden has ten million people and 887 Coronavirus deaths so far. Ohio has 11.5 million people and 231 Coronavirus deaths so far.

Ohio’s epidemic has peaked at 26 deaths a day. Yesterday there were 18 reported deaths. If Sweden has peaked, their peak is much higher than ours.

Sweden is generally compared to other European countries. At 9600 total cases, it has more cases than German and less than Portugal which is about the same size.

According to DGS data, there are 13,956 confirmed cases [in Portugal], plus 815, representing an increase of 6.2% compared to Wednesday.

By not locking down Sweden should be in much better shape economically.

If you want to compare Sweden to neighboring countries, Norway and Finland each have a population of about five million people. Norway has 114 Coronavirus deaths. Finland has 49 deaths. They are both past peak with daily deaths in the single digits. If those countries had similar Coronavirus rates to Sweden, they would have each lost 400 people.

Incidentally, world, vaccines have always been a jew moneymaking racket.

It has been reported that the lock down in the US of A is the reason there are so many cases and deaths. BTW: the CDC has told all hospitals in the US to list any death as the "Beer" virus no matter how they died.

If you go by the chart, Sweden's total of 10000 cases compared favorably with Denmark and Norway but not as good as Finland, Sweden's population is twice that of the other 3 countries.

For starters, nobody's figures are to be believed. In the US, for instance, the CDC has ordered that any death where Covid might be involved is to be counted as a Covid death although the deceased didn't die from it.

Belarus' figured are not believed because they are unPC, and they are probably lying too.

And even if there are far more deaths there they've got it better than any now-jailed country. MUCH better.

Economically, absolutely it's better.

They have more deaths but it should sweep through the country must faster. A consequence of flattening the curve is that it also extends the curve. Flattening does ease the hospital situation and does mean that fewer infected people will die for lack of hospital care, but there is a cost, in lives, to economic disruption which Sweden won't see, and we should see C-virus deaths in Sweden stop more quickly.

There's also the issue of a second wave, which may yet come. And who knows? It may be that Sweden's strategy of getting it over with rapidly may better prevent that than flattening the curve, which may serves to let the virus fester.

Where I am, however, it seems the lockdown measures are very effective as the reports are the outbreak has almost ground to a halt. Obviously some would say that that is because the virus is no real threat, but....

We'll be able to judge better once it all blows over, but hindsight won't be worth much then.

Ohio and Sweden are not comparable as Ohio was late to the game. And a high death count only reflects on the quality of care given. Its the number of cases in locked down countries vs. relatively freer ones that indicate whether lockdown is working or not.

Then what can we believe re Sweden?

For weeks, the epidemiologists have predicting a spike in Swedish figures. Not yet, but who knows it might happen.

Assuming the Swedish experience remains no worse than much of Europe, we might believe that quarantine is of limited value medically and a disaster economically.

the CDC has ordered that any death where Covid might be involved is to be counted as a Covid death although the deceased didn't die from it.

I'm not up on those details or how true the actual order might be, but it clearly is a complicated and cloudy thing is deciding whether someone who died with the virus should count as a Covid death.

Hell, if someone was in a car accident and died because emergency treatment was delayed because the hospitals were full or whatever, should that count as a covid death? Arguably, yes, because if there was no virus outbreak, they would have gotten the treatment and lived.

In cases where a person has several ailments with covid being one, it's not quite fair to blame it on covid OR to blame it on one of the other afflictions. It comes down to subjectively deciding which conditions are "normal" and which are not. If diabetes is "normal" then we blame it on covid. If covid is "normal" then we blame it on diabetes. And right now, diabetes is considered "normal".

The best way to put a number on covid deaths is simply to compare death rates during the outbreak with death rates before the outbreak. If deaths rose from 100/day to 200/day, then we can say covid is responsible for 100 deaths, without blaming any particular death on covid.

It's only the flu, Ping.

That, I won't buy at this point. I'm ruling that out. As of about a week ago, death rates in our biggest city grew about 4-fold with this outbreak.

Now maybe that's not so bad, that we'd expect a true plague to raise it about 1000-fold. If it was, there'd be no argument that it's on par with something from the early middle ages. But it's still much more than what the flu does. So, no, it is not the flu. We can agree to disagree on that.

I work with a guy who has Type 2 diabetes. When his blood sugar gets low they let him drink a soda with high fructose corn syrup and his blood sugar levels out.

Of course if he lost the Buddha belly his blood sugar might improve. ;)

My point was differences in reporting by different countries. AFAIK no other country has ordered its hospitals to report all deaths where coronavirus was present as Covid deaths.

As far as comparable year-to-year death rates go, KIM that the 3d or 4th cause of deaths in the US is medical error. With not only no elective procedures being done but also it has been reported that even coronaries are not going to hospitals, year-over-year figures might be deceptive. Pneumonia deaths seem to have disappeared in the year-over-year figures and presumably are now attributed to Covid 19.

That's why I say the only statistic that could be accurate in gauging the number of deaths attributed to Covid is to compare raw death numbers from this point in time with another point in time.

It's also true that given the lock down, we could reasonably expect fewer traffic and violent crime fatalities as there's a lot less driving going on and people walking about at night in dark alleys. Because of that, I guess we could argue that Covid is actually serving to save some lives. It's an interesting statistical puzzle. But forgot about trying to reliably ascribe a specific death to covid or not.

Yes. That was why he was on TV. FOX is the only channel promoting Hydroxy. Then Sean Hannity went to the Prez and said Hydroxy. Then Dr Oz copied that French doctor who did not use zinc. Now both the Prez and Dr Oz are saying we need to use zinc sulfate with Hydroxy. 3 weeks and we should be OK. That will give us time for Abbot Labs to produce all those test kits or machines. I will look them up.

I am going to check on total fatalities. At one point, 52% of all deaths were in NY and NJ which I attribute to Governor Cuomo's opposition to Hydroxy. And then Michigan and Louisiana having Dumbass politico Demonrats running the place. The rest of the country has much lower death rates except for the elderly and black people mainlining sugar.

The 4 Dumbass governors (NY, NJ, Mi, La) have a total of 12,597 deaths. 20,499. 7,902 for the other 46 states and DC. Since we have a cure and tests, we will have starting in 10 days a sharp drop in deaths. I would give an all clear on Friday May 1st. Open up the malls, the schools and the restaurants, the resorts and the churches. We could do mandatory testing through schools and employers. Quarantine and treat at home a million people. And in a week the Demonrats can hold hearings on Orange Man Bad.

So 38.5% of all deaths are in the rest of America. Sounds like we will get more deaths from the seasonal flu in the rest of America.

Since the Medianites and politicians despise us and lie to us about everything possible, my policy is to believe only the good news (e.g. low numbers) on this. It's so easy being a contrarian -- popular illusions die all day ;)
