Without a bailout the post office will be broke by June. All the Republicans have to do is make sure it goes belly up.
The U.S. has declared bankruptcy twice that I know of. Once in 1933 and again in 1950. In the first Bankruptcy FDR declared private ownership of gold to be unlawful. People were forced to turn in their gold coins and gold certificates for $20/oz. Gold was then revalued to $35/oz. These days the post office has been reduced to delivering catalogs and Amazon packages for which they claim a loss. The few 1st class mail is bills and bill payments. Maybe we can do without them.
