Yes.

Yes, they did.

Now, let’s see how many paragraphs can be written about this, while entirely avoiding the question of whether this means that this virus, originally described as cataclysmic, is actually as benign as the CDC is reporting that it is.

Bloomberg:

Japan’s state of emergency is nearing its end with new cases of the coronavirus dwindling to mere dozens. It got there despite largely ignoring the default playbook.

No restrictions were placed on residents’ movements, and businesses from restaurants to hairdressers stayed open. No high-tech apps that tracked people’s movements were deployed. The country doesn’t have a center for disease control. And even as nations were exhorted to “test, test, test,” Japan has tested just 0.2% of its population — one of the lowest rates among developed countries.

Yet the curve has been flattened, with deaths well below 1,000, by far the fewest among the Group of Seven developed nations. In Tokyo, its dense center, cases have dropped to single digits on most days. While the possibility of a more severe second wave of infection is ever-present, Japan has entered and is set to leave its emergency in just weeks, with the status already lifted for most of the country and likely to exit completely as early as Monday.

Analyzing just how Japan defied the odds and contained the virus while disregarding the playbook used by other successful countries has become a national conversation. Only one thing is agreed upon: that there was no silver bullet, no one factor that made the difference.

“Just by looking at death numbers, you can say Japan was successful,” said Mikihito Tanaka, a professor at Waseda University specializing in science communication, and a member of a public advisory group of experts on the virus. “But even experts don’t know the reason.”

Well, folks, there you have it – it’s a mystery.

USA! USA! USA! Bringing you democracy, or else! there were strains of VD that were incurable, and they were first found in the Philippines and then transmitted to the Korean working girls via US military. The 'incurables' we were told were first taken back to a military hospital in the Philippines to quietly die. – 4um

Many third world countries have experienced less than 100 cases so. As Israel Shamir notes,

And now we can return to conspiracy theories. If the virus is the great destroyer as presented, why didn’t poor countries with little value and no hi-tech suffer? Why is poor Cambodia not devastated by Covid? Cambodians have little medical care, and they accepted a whole boat-load of “infected” passengers from The Diamond Princess. They also have thousands of Chinese tourists. And they have no Covid in their poor country. Why does Mongolia, China’s neighbour with its very strong connections with China, have no Covid?

Why do only rich countries suffer? Why is it only the countries with a powerful liberal press, with a positive connection to the WHO, with developed hi-tech infrastructure and their own digital lords? Could it be simply that they have something to loot? It makes sense to loot Belgium, and Belgians have a lot of Covid. But it makes no sense to loot Mongolia or Cambodia. If you follow me thus far, you will also see that such things can’t happen by themselves. GAFAM is the prime mover and the beneficiary, while Gates is the link between them and the WHO.

There we are -- ameriKans live in a bubble where realities in other parts of the world don't even break into their consciousness. ameriKans could be smashing the beating the politicians black and blue with the Swedish case but they're too addicted to drama and politicians, good or bad, are their god.

When the election is over, the pandemic will be over, because the election is the whole point of it.

Every day that's getting easier to believe.

smoker’s lungs

My Uncle's wife never smoked a day in her life. But both of her parents were heavy smokers. She was exposed to that 2nd hand smoke when she was young and her lungs were not fully developed. Lung cancer killed her a few years back. It all has to do with the environment you are exposed to during your life. There are many more toxins now than in years gone by.

The Twin Towers were contaminated with asbestos. The asbestos was abated, but not removed. When the towers went down, all of that crap went up into the atmosphere. :-/
