Now, well-funded left-wing activists are pushing back. Leading the way is failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams—most famous for refusing to concede her 2018 election loss and insisting, without evidence, that her supporters had been disenfranchised. Abrams’ Fair Fight has joined forces with Priorities USA, the largest Democratic outside group, and American Bridge, the party’s opposition research clearinghouse, to form a new effort called Voter Suppression Watch. “We want to build a strong coalition to make sure that what’s happening on the Republican side doesn’t go unanswered,” said Aneesa McMillan, the director of strategic communications and voting rights at Priorities USA. The aim is not only to wage lawsuits against Republican states that resist the effort, but also to win the public-relations battle with a coordinated smear campaign. The activist group will provide opposition research and talking points for critical news stories fed to the mainstream media. “The 2020 election is the most pivotal election that I can think of, and we have known for a while that there would be efforts made to suppress the vote,” Abrams said Sunday in an interview with The Associated Press. Despite having no issues with recent race riots and mass protests— which Democrats justified by claiming “racism” was a bigger health threat than the global pandemic—the activists have sounded the alarm that in-person voting could be a threat to voters. From a scientific standpoint, the elderly and those in poor health are particularly susceptible to the virus. Under normal circumstances in most states, those voters and others with valid reasons would be eligible to receive absentee ballots. However, due to many mitigating factors such as lifestyle, income, population density in urban areas and a refusal to abide by social- distancing guidelines, people of color have disproportionately borne the brunt of its effects. Statistics indicate that nearly a quarter of those who died were black, and roughly a third were Latino, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Many victims of the virus illegal immigrants who are www.libertyheadlines.com/privacy-covid-data-sharing- law/">reluctant to report cases due to the concerns over invasive tracking procedures, such as contact-tracing, that left- wing governors have strongly advocated. Nonetheless, Democrats have embraced the oft-followed mantra to never let a serious crisis go to waste, and have pushed the effort to have the entire election be conducted by mail with ballots mailed to every name listed on the voter rolls. They already have worked to blur the lines on voter registration by refusing to update their rolls and remove the names of those who have died, moved away or otherwise become ineligible. That means thousands of unclaimed ballots could be issued and likely mishandled. In California alone, a lawsuit forced the removal of some www.libertyheadlines.com/california-purge-inactive- voters/">1.5 million ineligible voters last year. Conveniently, the state’s 2018 election—the first in which third-party ballot- harvesting was permitted—resulted in the flipping on seven GOP-led congressional districts, several of which saw the Republican’s election-night victory reversed by late absentee returns. Nor have the far-left sanctuary state’s actions since then inspired confidence in its election integrity. In a special election to fill one of those recently-flipped seats, which was vacated by disgraced Democrat ex-Rep. Abrams long has complained about the requirement of voter ID laws, a common-sense measure to assure voter integrity and prevent fraud that is widely supported by many voters themselves according to recent ballot referenda. Democrats have claimed, although there is little evidence to support it, that their voting base is more likely to lack access to any of the forms of identification that states with such requirements have made readily available, for free, to all voting-eligible citizens. They also complained that, bolstered by a federal court ruling, for the first time in decades, the GOP will also be allowed to conduct poll monitoring on election day in November. In Pennsylvania, a key battleground state that Trump won in 2016, federal investigators recently exposed a massive ballot-stuffing operation that www.libertyheadlines.com/dem-rep- ringleader-ballot-stuffing/">was allegedly spearheaded by corrupt former congressman Ozzie Myers. Thus far, the new Democratic coalition has not raised additional funds for the effort, though that could change.
