WASHINGTON, June 26 (Reuters) - U.S. intelligence has concluded that the Russian military offered bounties to Taliban-linked militants in Afghanistan to kill American troops and other coalition forces, the New York Times reported on Friday.
Citing officials briefed on the matter, the Times said the United States determined months ago that a Russian military intelligence unit linked to assassination attempts in Europe had offered rewards for successful attacks last year.
Islamist militants, or armed criminal elements closely associated with them, are believed to have collected some bounty money, the newspaper said.

When I lived in Lebanon I was working with the Bondsman for a while. We did some bounty hunting a few times.
One day we took a ride to Kansas City to look for a guy. We knew he was up there on 6th floor. We were talking with the doorman.
He must have called up there and told that guy, "Those bounty hunters are down here looking for you." He beat us back to where he was supposed to be and turned himself in.
Hey, what ever works.
