My neighbor was out fishing in his pond behind his home. It was about sunset. His dog came and cowered between his legs. He said, "If you're afraid of it, so am I." They both went in the house.
It might have been a mountain lion since it was pretty wild out there. When I first bought that place he told me you could ride a horse for 40 miles and not cross fence once.
A Black Bear got in town here a few years back. The police and fire department chased him out the north end of town. Bears don't know what lights and sirens are so they run. ;)
