"He Just Floored It!" Detroit Police SUV Filmed Plowing Through Protesters
June 30, 2020
A viral video from a chaotic standoff between police and Black Lives Matter protesters in a southwest Detroit neighborhood is stirring outrage among activists, though in more normal times it should be clear to anyone that things wont end well if one jumps on the hood of a moving police vehicle.
Thats precisely what happened Sunday night: a crowd is seen attempting to block a Detroit police SUV at an intersection. As the group of peaceful protesters surrounds the vehicle while banging on it, multiple individuals are seen placing themselves on the hood in order to stop its movement. The SUVs police lights are flashing, perhaps as a warning of whats about to happen.
Instead of retreating, the police officer guns the accelerator, sending multiple protesters flying through the air.
A Detroit police statement later said the officer had to escape after the vehicles back window was busted out. Police also described the crowd as agitators and defended the actions of the cop.
The officer tried to escape, according to the Detroit police department statement.
He just floored it He went super fast. Me and a couple of other organizers that were with me, just went flinging off. We went flying off. He ran over a couple peoples arms, feet.
Screams are heard while people yell at the driver to stop. The officer actually stops and starts several times attempting to shake off the remaining couple of individuals still grasping onto the hood.
People are then seen scattered in the street as the police car speeds off, with the crowd giving chase and screaming.
Local television reporting also featured multiple videos that captured the shocking incident:
Its clear from the video that the officer pressed the accelerator only after the crowd began trying to climb on the car.
Subsequent local reports said multiple among the protesters ended up in the hospital.
Since mass BLM and anti-police brutality protests began nationwide, theres been multiple such ramming incidents involving mobs trying to thwart moving vehicles. Needless to say in most cases it hasnt ended well for the protesters.

You do what you must do to escape if you are outnumbered.

People back then saw a problem, and then they solved the problem.

Just yesterday, I was thinking about cars and the thousands of dollars of damage that can be done to them very quickly (I estimated the damage to the police SUV at $1,200 for the rear window, total maybe $5,000 or more).
My mind turned to keeping people away from the car.
How about tear gas/pepper spray dispensers linked to a touch screen display? I dunno, FTW is being sued by the ACLU for tear gas. Em, maybe.
What about a really high power laser turret that permanently blinds anyone within say, 10 meters of your car? I'm waiting for a response from my EweToob buddy StyroPyro. I'm sure somebody would bitch. The kid's not returning my calls or emails.
OK, Raytheon has a really cool microwave "Active Denial System" that makes you feel like you're on fire and will drop anybody. My contact there isn't returning my calls either. Maybe because he's been dead for a few years. The cops might have a chance on that one if they ever come to.
Any firearm based thingy is pretty much out thanks to their various ATF laws. The goob seems to be my only friend left, if they would just get off their ass and do SOMETHING.
Last best hope, being able to turn the body of your car into a million Volt taser. That's got some potential. Touch my car and die. I haven't thought out the details yet, the zips in the wire have me kind of distracted right this second. Maybe I should see if Clive has any ideas.

I am guessing you've been there brother. :-/

I am not one of those weak-spirited, sappy Americans who want to be liked by all the people around them. I dont care if people hate my guts; I assume most of them do. The important question is whether they are in a position to do anything about it. You know more about me than my ex-wife did. Let's keep it that way.

Well, he didn't get any the first time, but as I commented on that, a few days ago, he should've finished the job. The $60,000 vehicle was pretty much destroyed, probably lost his job if he was "white."
Things are devolving fast.
