When I woke up this morning I thought my hands had been exposed to a huge amount of ionizing radiation and were on fire. An almost waking dream.
Well, my arthritis and RSIs were bad and EweToob had a documentary about Chernobyl going on my laptop.
The conversation between me and Trump was really cool a couple days ago.
I can't sleep in silence. My tinnitus is so bad that I have to have some variable noise going to keep from going insane.
The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out... without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane, intolerable. ~ H. L. Mencken
About all paint was white lead based back then. I think the point was more about reflectivity. Problem was, all paint about turned into soot/ash after the initial heat flash.
I'm guessing that aluminum siding was not yet invented or in widespread use due to the metal shortages back then. I remember the plywood window-well covers my dad made with a layer of fiberglass insulation on them. Those would've worked good for a tornado, but Dad's joint was about 2.3 mi from a primary target (Magnavox, IH, etc. I'm about 0.2 miles from those carcasses).
The shock wave would've liquefied your bones with a nominal 2MT burst. At the time 20MT was nominal weapon yield.
Yeah, white lead-based paint is effective. You'll get an extra femto- second of life.

I dunno, Dakkie says they've got no N95 masks anyway.

USA! USA! USA! Bringing you democracy, or else! there were strains of VD that were incurable, and they were first found in the Philippines and then transmitted to the Korean working girls via US military. The 'incurables' we were told were first taken back to a military hospital in the Philippines to quietly die. 4um
