Evidence gathered over 60 years about adding fluoride to drinking water has failed to convince some people this major public health initiative is not only safe but helps to prevent tooth decay. Myths about fluoridated water persist. These include fluoride isn’t natural, adding it to our water supplies doesn’t prevent tooth decay and it causes conditions ranging from cancer to Down syndrome. Now the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) is in the process of updating its evidence on the impact of fluoridated water on human health since it last issued a statement on the topic in 2007. Its draft findings and recommendations are clear cut: NHMRC strongly recommends community water fluoridation as a safe, effective and ethical way to help reduce tooth decay across the population. It came to its conclusion after analysing the evidence and issuing a technical report for those wanting more detail. Here are four common myths the evidence says are wrong.

Pure BS. The guy isn't a medical reseacher, he's a dentist. Biophysicists, biochemists, molecular biologists, and other such scientists have known for decades about the dangers of fluoride. Are you aware of the fact it's more toxic than lead? Are you aware of the fact the flouride they dump into water supplies is classified as toxic waste and is a byproduct of the aluminum refining industry and would need to be disposed of as such if it wasn't dumped into our drinking water instead? It's a pick-you-poison world, and it seems we have to have germicides in public water or there will indeed be bad cooties in it. We have a great health 'n' nutrition guy here (ran a health food store for years right on Wade Hampton Blvd) who convinced me of this. Flouride is terrible for us -- true. What enrages me is the thoro'ly communist notion everybody has to drink it and bathe in it on the premise that it prevents kids' cavities! Can promise you that's just another big moneymaker (even tho' it's industrial waste) for the Chosen, being a direct parallel with routine vaxinations etc. It is exactly on such shaky, shady reasoning they sell us all their scams.
