Politicians like Ilhan Omar and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez want to defund and abolish police departments. And now Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez let the cat out of the bag on what happens after the Left defunds the police. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has made it clear: “defund the police” means defunding the police. But the obvious question is what comes next? Who do Americans call for protection from crime or to deal with disturbances once the Left does away with the police? Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez revealed the disturbing answer: she has no idea. In a virtual town hall event, Ocasio-Cortez claimed replacing the police would be done by a policy of experimentation. “And this conversation— figuring out that path forward— as much as we want policy to be ‘I’m going to propose it, I’m going to have all of the answers’ and put a neat little bow and pass this one law once and everything is going to be fixed, that’s how we wish all of this stuff works, but what really it’s going to take it experimentation, and to ask, ‘What if?’” Ocasio-Cortez stated. “And to even pass laws in the spirit of that experimentation, as well,” Ocasio-Cortez added. Lives are at stake in this situation. Defunding the police isn’t some esoteric ideological fight about the size and scope of government. This is literally if someone breaks into your house at night who will come to your rescue? Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claims that will be left up to “experimentation.” The American people understand this reality. And that is why poll after poll shows they oppose defunding the police. But if Joe Biden is swept into office by a blue wave that also puts the Democrats in charge of the Senate there may be no stopping this dangerous policy.
