The Oregon city has been plagued by weeks of violent protests, arson, and violence, committed by far-left activists from Antifa and various “racial justice” groups. On Thursday, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti voiced his support for these violent mobs, claiming that they represent “the best of our democratic ideals.” These are rioters who, in recent days, destroyed a federal courthouse. On his official Mayor of LA Twitter account, Garcetti praised “demonstrators for racial justice” and slammed President Donald Trump’s deployment of federal forces. He claimed, without evidence, that sending in federal forces to quell violence “does nothing to keep us safe.” Demonstrators for racial justice represent the best of our democratic ideals. The Mark O. Hatfield United States Courthouse was one of the most recent targets of these violent mobs. Rioters not only vandalized and damaged the property, but attempted to set fire to the building too. The Mayor of Portland Ted Wheeler, apparently scared of responding to the far-left rioters, has not done very much to stop them, either. Wheeler even stooped as low as getting involved with the protests, heading out onto the busy streets on Wednesday night to show that he stands in solidarity with their cause. Can you believe that? Elected officials standing side by side with people attempting to burn down your own city’s buildings. As a result of the escalating violence, President Donald Trump worked with acting Department of Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf to send in federal officers to arrest troublemakers and clear the streets. Those are the “stormtroopers” that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi slammed, and the “anonymous police” that AOC is introducing legislation to ban.
