City Man Arrested After Mexican-Flag Burning

By Brady McCombs Arizona Daily Star Tucson, Arizona | Published: 04.12.2006

A Tucson man was arrested Tuesday for his role in the burning of a Mexican flag as part of a counterprotest at a pro-immigration rally.

At about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Tucson police cited Roy Warden, 58, on suspicion of assault, criminal damage and reckless burning, and then released him, according to Sgt. Decio Hopffer.

Video footage shot Monday by police and the media showed Warden assaulting a TV cameraman and a photographer, Hopffer said. Because only one of the men pressed charges, there is only one assault charge.

Warden faces the criminal-damage charge for harm done to the concrete shuffleboard court where Warden's group was burning the Mexican flag, Hopffer said.

Warden and his group, Border Guardians, arrived at Armory Park just after noon Monday to stage a counterprotest to the 15,000 marchers who were protesting what they see as unfair immigration laws. At about 2:15 p.m, they burned Mexican flags and tempers flared.

Police arrested two girls for throwing water at Warden and his group, and a scuffle broke out as police escorted them away. On Monday, Tucson police arrested six people on charges of aggravated assault on a peace officer, interfering with governmental operation, hindering prosecution and disturbing the peace.

Hopffer said police are still reviewing tape of the scuffle.

Warden said the charges are a direct result of political pressure from the Mexican Consulate.

"If they saw something unlawful, why didn't they commit an arrest then?" Warden said. He said he plans to represent himself at his court hearing on April 24 and said he's confident he will clear himself of charges. In addition, he said he plans to sue the cameraman for defamation of character and denying his right to free speech. Another member of Border Guardians, Laine Lawless, called the arrest a petty way to punish the group for its dissenting voice.

March organizers also questioned why it took police so long to make the arrest. They have a requested a meeting with city officials for Thursday to discuss the issue, said Zoe Hammer, spokeswoman for Border Action Network, one of the local human-rights groups that organized the march.

This is an outright over-reaction on the part of the police.

They need to show the Hispanic community that Racism will not be tolerated, and therefore all opposition will be silenced.

They are making an example out of this guy, not because he burned a fucking flag, but because he's a potential problem. If people start counter protesting, it will end up in violence, and that's what they're trying to make sure doesn't happen.

True. At the expense of Liberty for American citizens and the repudiation of the Constitution. Fascism is what we've become. The bad guys get the rights, the good guys get incarceration. And we ain't seen nothing yet. Civil War is coming soon to America, and bullets will soon be much more valuable than gold or silver. How sad we've degenerated to this, but it was all foretold in advance, so it is no surprise. Visionaries like Robby Noel, John Stadtmiller, Chuck Harder, et al who sounded the first alarms on S/W radio pre-internet have all been proven right, not to mention the Bible.

I was a member of FTP for many years. I can't get him locally anymore but I understand he is available again on shortwave and on the internet.

He was right about everything.

Chuck can be heard on s/w, freq 12.160 at 4PM, EST. When I found him recently I was surprised he's off the reservation with Iraq. He still is A+ on economic issues.

The only times I've heard Chuck Harder in the years since 9-11, he has totally bought and pushed the government line in terms of the "war on terror." That was very disappointing to me. He is apparently now a committed Zionist with all that entails, including refusing to recognize obvious "false flag" ops such as 9-11.

Mentioning him and his researcher, Richard Osborne, made me think of Alex Jones and his researcher, Paul Joseph Watson.

Jones and Watson are younger, more fearless versions of what Harder and Osborne used to be.

Alex Jones can be likened to Chuck Harder in his prime on steroids with maybe a hit or two of crack and/or meth thrown in. Can you imagine Chuck Harder sneaking into the Bohemian Grove? For one thing, he weighs about 300 pounds, so it'd have been awfully hard for him to hide.

That's a damn shame.

Chuck's been through some rough health problems. I still wonder if his story of slipping on a wet floor isn't a cover for something else. I wonder if he was roughed up by gooberment goons? Thet were certainly after him as early as the early '90s.
