The Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) announced on Friday that it had trapped its first Asian giant hornet in the northern most part of the state near the Canadian border. A photograph released by the department shows that the specimen that it caught was approximately 2 inches long.

The hornets are usually between 1.5 to 2 inches long, have large yellow-orange heads with prominent eyes, and a black and yellow striped abdomen. WIKI
So Asian hornets are on the maximal size for their species.
