chrissy, how serious is this? Can you give us any sense of it? "Admitted to hospital" + "morphine" could encompass just about anything, from the not-so- serious to the very worst. Hope it's just another unfortunate encounter with a stump (or some such passing injury). Godspeed, Zip, in overcoming whatever it is and getting your health back.

I suppose it's because she bases her interpretation on what she reads and on her understanding of the human condition. Unlike many churchgoers, she does not take the Bible for a drug store, digging out text here and there to make it sever some dogmatic purpose. Get well, Zip, this forum needs to hear the view of genuine Christians.

Overall, things here are great, though I haven't been well the past week or so. I've had intestinal problems and over the weekend spent the time keeping my temp down from 40 degrees C (104 F). I'm doing better now, though I had a blood draw today to see if I've got the flu or something more serious. We'll see how Ecuadoran medicine measures up.

When you were there before, did you have any problems with the water? Maybe you're still adjusting. But 104 F is too high. It must be something else. Take care.

Yes, 104 is too high. I did have a problem on my first visit but not to this extent. I recovered nicely.
I was told today that Guayaquil was free of Malaria, but I'll double check.
