What horrid news!

I hope it is nothing to serious but to be in the hospital, it must not be routine.

I know that she was a tad depressed as one of her posts indicated last week.

Prayers going out for Zippy!

Godspeed.

Sounds like she might have come down with a migraine headache? I hope that's all it is, something like that.

I tried to call her house but no one was home so I left a message to tell her I hope she will be okey, I sure hope it's nothing serious.

chrissy, how serious is this? Can you give us any sense of it? "Admitted to hospital" + "morphine" could encompass just about anything, from the not-so- serious to the very worst.

Hope it's just another unfortunate encounter with a stump (or some such passing injury). Godspeed, Zip, in overcoming whatever it is and getting your health back.

Zip is a rare Bible believer whose views I have come to trust. I suppose it's because she bases her interpretation on what she reads and on her understanding of the human condition. Unlike many churchgoers, she does not take the Bible for a drug store, digging out text here and there to make it sever some dogmatic purpose.

Get well, Zip, this forum needs to hear the view of genuine Christians.

Overall, things here are great, though I haven't been well the past week or so. I've had intestinal problems and over the weekend spent the time keeping my temp down from 40 degrees C (104 F). I'm doing better now, though I had a blood draw today to see if I've got the flu or something more serious. We'll see how Ecuadoran medicine measures up.

When you were there before, did you have any problems with the water? Maybe you're still adjusting. But 104 F is too high. It must be something else. Take care.

I know, I've had it, it can kill you!

Yes, 104 is too high. I did have a problem on my first visit but not to this extent. I recovered nicely.

Nonsense, the coast is full of it.

Don't wait until Thursday, take some Fansidar or Larium (see my PM) if you get worse tomorrow.

Don't mess with Malaria, it's mucho serious.

Yes, it is here, but the spanish name is different which explains the confusion (I think the name in your PM is the name I heard). I've been improving since Sunday and am feeling today like I just have a cold. The fever is minimal now

Oops.... Just got word today on a doctor's reading of the various pages of the report (I couldn't talk to the doctor when I picked it up) and he said I also had Typhoid. That explains the 103-104 temp quite nicely (in textbook fashion).

I drink only bottled water, though maybe I should use that for brushing teeth too. I did do that in Quito for a spell.

BTW, the typhoid is in addition to strep. I'm having a real blast here!

Actually the only medicine I'm taking is Olive Leaf Extract. It's an herbal anti-bacterial and supposedly anti-viral and anti-fungal too. I brought a nice big bottle with me when I came. I'll stick with it and get a followup test in a few weeks to see how things go.

I read today Typhoid typically makes you sick for weeks or months but an effective medicine turns you around in days. So far I seem to be on that fast track.

Good news. You're young and strong, you'll probably work through it. But, please do seek more help if you have any doubts.

I'll have to try some Olive Leaf Extract one of these days.

Keep eating the $1 almuzeros with the tap water "fruit juce"
(put me in your will while you're at it)

though maybe I should use that for brushing teeth too.
