The occupation of Japan in August 1945 was not simple or easy. US forces moved quickly to occupy Tokyo and important military and naval facilities after Emperor Hirohito capitulated, but the forces were tiny compared to the huge challenges that they faced.

Germany gave Japan the plans for the Me-262 jet fighter. Japan was working on it in a cave in the mountains where it was safe from U.S. bombings. The cave was discovered by U.S. forces after the occupation had commenced.

There was brief view of Mt. Fuji thru nose of B-29...

I got to see same view from B-29 during Korean war.

Also one of the orders given Japanese prior to surrender was that all aircraft were to have propellers removed before Americans arrived.

MacArthur brought Japan up out of the dark ages.

The Japs were mostly living in wooden homes and eating Sushi for the most part, although they did have chickens and hogs as did the Chinese.

Germany gave Japan the plans for the Me-262 fighter which they were working on in a cave in the mountains where it was safe from U.S. bombing raids. They had not yet gotten it to the point it was operational. Occupying U.S. forces discovered the cave and its contents. ;)
