Dolly Parton Said She Went To The McDonald's Drive-Thru On One Of Her First Dates With Her Husband

I always knew French fries were the secret to true love. <3

Dolly Parton is one of the biggest stars of all time, and though she's opened up about many things in her life, she's managed to keep her marriage of more than 50 years on the down-low. But she recently shared some adorable anecdotes with PEOPLE about their relationship, including sharing that one of their first dates was at a McDonald's.

In the interview, Dolly said that she and her husband Carl Dean, to whom she's been married for 54 years, love a good date night and especially love a picnic.

"I'll cook the stuff that I know we love. And I pack it up in a picnic basket. And then we'll go find some riverbank somewhere with our little camper, park, have a picnic," she said: "Or we'll pull up to some little Days Inn motel, go in as long as the bed's clean and there's a bathroom. We just do our little things like that. Or I'll do a candlelight dinner. We don't make an issue of it."

Sometimes, though, Dolly said they do like to get fancy and though they prefer paper plates, she'll get the good dishes out.

"It's like certain days, you feel a certain way," she continued. "And I'll say, ‘I'm going to surprise him. And we're going to have real cloth napkins and real crystal. I'm going to put the real china out instead of the paper plates we usually eat on because we don't want to have to wash dishes.’"

I don't know about you, but I'm still thinking about that McDonald's date. They didn't expand upon it in this particular interview but in a previous article, she explained that their first date was a McDonald's drive-thru and said they still prefer picnics and smaller restaurants so they can fly under the radar.

“When I met my husband, he wanted to take me out to dinner. He pulled up to the drive-in window and got our food at McDonald’s,” she said at the time. “We know a few little places we can go without being bothered. He only likes to go places where he can be comfortable!”

I always knew the secret to a happy relationship was McDonald's French fries! You can read Dolly's most recent PEOPLE interview in full here.

If you just do not have the cash to go to Steak and Shake then McD's will have to do. ;)

Pretty good impression - at least Biden didn't call Trump a "lying, dog-faced pony soldier" last night. That would have been worth the price of admission.

Trump did ask Biden about his calling soldiers "dull stupid bastards". Biden outright denied it.

After it hit the internet he said it was a joke, now denies it ever happened. Take a look at what the so-called "fact-checking" sites are publishing about it.

Biden almost shit his pants when Trump brought up Hunter's ties to Burisma and the Ukraine.

Biden also claimed Hunter Biden was honorably discharged from the Navy Reserve, he was not, as Trump alleged, dishonorably discharged. Joe Biden's son began his service in May 2013, as a public affairs officer in a reserve unite based in Norfolk, Virginia (via CNN). In June he tested positive for cocaine, and by February the following year, the Navy had administratively discharged him for it. (According to VetVerify, a dishonorable discharge is different than an administrative discharge in that it is punitive, and is only issued for the most "reprehensible" conduct.) "It was the honor of my life to serve in the U.S. Navy," Hunter Biden told CNN at the time, "I deeply regret and am embarrassed that my actions led to my administrative discharge."

The nose candy can and does get to quite a few people.

One time we were working a concert in Chicago at the Vic Theater. They were searching girls purses a he front door.

One girl opened her purse and a vial popped up. One of the guys on the crew grabbed it. The cop walked over and said, "Let's have it." He unscrewed the cap and poured it out on the sidewalk. He told the girl, "Don't cry. You are not going to jail tonight."

I saw him when on washroom break. I said, "I heard about what happened at the front door. Next time, think of the crew."

He was laughing. He knew we were all party animals. LOL

I've tried it, maybe a handful of times back in the '80s when I was still playing. Way out of my price range.

They did have it cheap in Thailand but I don't recall ever trying it there, Thai stick was the drug of choice - along with "White Horse" speed pills, for a lot of lifers, not just the younger, lower ranks.

Back to the band, (Chute 18) all stayed pretty much sober when we played - maybe one beer per 45 minute set. The lead singer/front man used that trick from "The Sting" where Henry Gondorff poured out almost all the gin from the bottle and replaced it with water so it would make it appear that he was drunk then Henry fleeced Doyle Lonnegan at the poker table. .

Mark did the same thing only with tequila. He was able to appear and perform like a maniac but still be in control and sing on key. We did some Doors songs and he did a spot on Jim Morrison.

Good times!.

Yeah. I remember some great stories from working concerts. Even when I had to move out of where I was living and had to sleep in my pick up. That was not very pleasant.

One morning after the Bulls won one of their championships, I was sitting on the throne. This car load of Mexicans came flying around the corner in the complex and sideswiped the rear of my pick up. The neighbor was hollering for me.

They must have blown a tire and went behind the pizza place to change it. I caught them at the gas station on the corner and flagged down a County squad. I told him the story. He walked up to the driver and said, "Why didn't you stop?" The Mexican said, "Oh, I don't know." The cop said, "Now we're talking right."

What do you think? They were likely hammered from drinking during a the Bulls game anyway. Maybe they were going on a beer run. LOL

Been there, done that a couple of times, one time in a 72 Datsun 400 sedan, packed with all my stuff. It was summer so I paid a few bucks a night for a campsite with electricity and showers included, by a river with a rope swing and pontoon raft.

Probably not too many places like that in Chicago.

I had to shower at the municipal campground. It wasn't the cleanest place but it got the stink off of me. ;)
