During an interview after the debate took place, Page was asked about what journalists and viewers were saying about the debate. Some of the feedback were getting early on even though around the vice president because he so continually kept talking, is that it was disrespectful to you as a moderator and as a woman, and there are questions about would he have treated a male moderator in that way, Page was asked by a fellow USA Today reporter. What do you think about that? Page awkwardly said that she didnt know the answer to the question, but did say that she knew the vice president debated last time with a female moderator and that he did similar things with that debate as well where he talked on and talked over her. Ok. So Mike Pence is a sexist now. Page did not, however, provide any evidence that Mike Pences debating methods are hinged in any way upon the gender of the moderator. I dont know that Ive seen him in that kind of setting with a male moderator, she admitted. It showed that Page may have some inherent bias against Vice President Pence, given just how extreme the attacks against him have been since the debate. What we do know for sure, however, is that Vice President Pence won the debate handsomely. Polls consistently showed that the vice president performed better with voters than Senator Kamala Harris. Far-left New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took to Twitter in Thursday to suggest that Pence was treating Harris differently by demanding she answer his personal question, despite candidates asking each other questions being a perfectly common debating tactic. "Pence demanding that Harris answer *his* own personal questions when he wont even answer the moderators is gross, and exemplary of the gender dynamics so many women have to deal with at work." Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) October 8, 2020 Surely a woman who has studied debates to moderate one herself would know that these accusations are only being leveled against Mike Pence because he is a man and Kamala Harris is a woman? Isnt that sexist? Post Comment Private Reply Ignore Thread
