Suzy Bogguss - Someday Soon

Poster Comment:

We were in Country Music Inn in Illinois a long while back. It is also closed a long time and there is UPS store on corner where it used to sit.

This guy named Chris Nuzzo was a rodeo rider. He walked in wearing spurs and they kicked him out. CMI was a dance hall. LOL

My favorite Suzy Boguss performance. Almost spoiled because the backup singer's mic is mixed in way too high. The backup singer does a great job, but the sound man should be thrown off the bus.

I've been watching lots of Gunsmoke on the INSP channel recently.

Judy blue-eyes' version was the first I heard back in '69. Great music.

Beautiful Ian Tyson music and a revived arrangement from Jewdy Collins' 1969 single. So nice to see two classics together -- the song and Jerry Jeff Walker, composer of Mr. Bojangles. There doesn't seem to be any actual sleaze in JJW's history. I see he has a place in Belize -- interesting.

The Commie Trio version of the song:

Wow -- another one features Ms Collinsky with the legendary Ian and Sylvia.

Thanks, B! Yeah, things go out of business and get ungraciously replaced. I tho't some other restaurant would surely reuse the original Ryan's building here in Greenville, but it's GONE and there's a car wash or something on the spot now.

Suzy Boggus opened for a big name country act in Chicago back in the day. She told the crowd she had a dream of making it in the big time. She has done well. She is in my age group too. So are a few other country music stars.

But one night I was in the Sundance Saloon in Mudelein, Illinois. I was broke and getting ready to go home. The guy at front door taking cover charges just stopped taking them. Some guy walked in and hands me $6 for him and his girl. Time for another beer! ROTFLOL

Here's another one where Suzy's crystal clear voice really shines. She's accompanied by the late Jimmy Capps, one of the best guitarists Nashville ever saw.

I remember now. Suzy Boggus opened for Brooks & Dunn in Chicago. That day was my birthday and my buddy got me guest passes so I could get in for free. There was a guest section set up off Stage Right for those who had them.

One show I was working I knew this chick in the guest section. She said to me, "What kind of drugs are you doing?" I said, "What are you talking about?" She said, "What are those orange things?" I said, "Those are ear plugs. What are you thinking?"

My date couldn't make it so there were some people that said they couldn't see where they were sitting. They put someone next to me that I didn't know.

I was able to use my guest pass as a back stage pass and I went in back to use rest room. I had the pleasure to meet Suzy Boggus at that time. She was very nice and friendly to as many other female country stars were.

We worked Mary Chapin Carpenter at the Park West. She was very friendly and visited with the crew after the show was over. Poor dear had a lung embolism and was out of action for three years. :-/
